Everything I Do...........

I vaguely remember encountering a debatable but interesting argument buried most probably somewhere deep down in chowk pages. It read something like “ Distances don’t matter where hearts are close……”

A slightly different perspective and take on the matter is that they do….Atleast to a certain degree.

Thanks to the technological breakthroughs and mind-blowing advancements, today we breathe in a world where the concepts like global village, world order and virtual community are discernable. Nonetheless, despite inception of enviable and innovative marketing techniques where the customers have access to immaculate 3 D views with marvelous varying perspectives, the products have failed to attract sales for the simple reason that the consumers are denied the freedom of ‘touch’ and ‘feel’.

In a fast paced world where time is priceless and precious, why marketeers still insist on the importance of personal visits and relationship building as a key to differentiation? Ironically, it still takes ‘warmth of a handshake’ to seal a multi billion dollar insensitive business deal or a contract. So much does it matter! And it will prevail as long as there is humanity and existence.

Despite all its amazing evolution, what technology miserably fails at is transmitting the accompanying innocence and impulsiveness, when the laughter of a smiling child is viewed or heard across a distance. While a juicy mango may appear all the more pulpy and desirable on our computer screens where is all its taste, nectar and scent lost? Can anybody in his/her right mind even perceive that the emoticons, in any remote or slight sense, may substitute the warmth, passion or spontaneity of a delicate smile, embrace or a hug? Can well woven and eloquent words convey the intensity and depth of heartfelt emotions?

Technology and virtuality are all functional phenomenon devoid of any emotional element or appeal. They are unidimensional and highly constrained. One of my dearest friends would’ve protested here “ Its all in the mind…….”. True. But mind does crave for a fluid and physical medium to convey these sensations and passions.

So it all comes down to distance. Bear with my conservatism, for I see it as a bit of a barrier. Thanks to the physical distance, let me pitch you in a hypothetical situation. You are delegated a job whereby you are deemed the most suitable individual to be entrusted with it. Where the delegation is comprehensive and ultimate to the extent that “ you know how to shut me up and I love the way you do it!” you can well imagine and understand the amount of trust, faith and expectation it entails. Now does that leave you with an option other than to reciprocate in a manner any different then responding something like…..

Everything I do……..I do it for you

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

True. Its the resonance of mind and heart that leads to ultimate bliss.

I belong to a slightly different school of thought and believe in "Nothing is impossible" or 'Impossible is nothing" ( thanks to NIKE ).But yes I tend never to forget what I am blessed with and possess but that doesn't stop me from striving for more.

Thanks for your sincere advice ( something that always somehow fall upon deaf ears in my case ) :)

And I am peeking and tracking for something special that should be just round the corner.

My response is why not ? Isn't it natural ? Are we all not living in pursuit of (elusive) happiness ?

Yes we all polish and groom and learn from our experiences. But why stop experimenting and why give up ?

Each time I listen to it, the song returns me to my cubicle as well. A lot of fond memories are associated with it. I particularly remember one of my closest friends who is an ardent fan of Adams and particularly likes this song. Like most others, he decided to move to the distant shores. We all used to sing it in a loud chorus but again most of the guys have left for greener pastures. Scattered as we are, we still relive those moments whenever we have the opportunity to enjoy a get together or a reunion.

I am pleased that you enjoyed the song.

the song brought back many memories .... of a hostel room, of some really REALLY dear friend, of a friend who is no more a part of this mortal world, of her shy smile, of that sudden (and ABSOLUTELY unbelievable) blush when she informed of the source of this audio track, of realizing so many new meanings in these lyrics simply by deciphering that enchanting smile that made me wonder many things..... memories of so much more, intangible but truly enriching!

Thanks a lot for sharing it Delirium :)
You brought back to life some moments that are almost a decade old now, but I just lived them all over again... :)

Del, M. I have this objection. And I wanted to say it for a long time but could not find the right stimulus. Now here it is. And I go thus; why is it that we always want to be happy? And why is it that we should try for it? Isnt a person supposed to become more refined, more polished, more sympathetic and generally well groomed when he has had a good dose of healthy sadness and failure in life? Not always and certainly not for protracted periods but sometimes should be sufficient na? Why always try attaining with others what we know we have lost with someone else?

" But mind does crave for a fluid and physical medium to convey these sensations and passions."

Its not the mind Del, its the heart. The stimulus for the mind and the heart are completely different. We know we have found our soulmate If the mind and the heart become in sync with each other and in such case the pleasures are immeasurable and intense. However in almost all relationships the mind and the heart separate after a while leading to dissatisfaction.

Being an incorrigible student of the old school myself and a fellow CCC member, my advise to you is, what's not meant to be will never be. So whatever IS, try and be happy in that as this might be as good as it gets.
Something more rewarding, or fitting might just be waiting for you at the next peak :) happy trekking :)

M.
