Relations need maintenance like any other living thing.
Plants don’t grow themselves. They need water, sunlight, suitable temperature… Sometimes organic food and cutting of dead leaves is also necessary.

Relations require commitment.
When commitment begins taking a toll, that becomes a test for the truth of the relationship. The commitment in a fulfilling, nurturing relationship does not take toll on either partner.
