A while back while visiting egypt, i was having a conversation with this egyptian guy who had just returned from US.
Now Egypt is a country that has perfected the hymen surgery to make a girl feel like a virgin all over again. In fact, this surgery has been turned into an art form. Now you are a deflowered girl, now you are not! A 10 minutes procedure and you are out the door ready to embrace your husband. Unlike Madonna who was just happy feeling "like a virgin", you ARE a virgin after this procedure.
With this kind of male dominated egyptian culture in mind, this guy shocked the bejesus out of me when he told me that he returned to egypt because he was "just so very much in love with his girl". He married her and was living happily ever after. I asked him about egyptian society's preoccupation with virginity to the extent that it leads to thousands of hymen operations per year. His curt answer - female virginity is very important. I told him I too was A-ok with that.
Anyways, so he told me an anecdote about the time he was in US at a Starbucks having some orange juice with this american dude who just could not understand what the big fuk was about female virginity. My egyptian friend asked him "if i ask you to dip your finger in your orange juice and then drink it, would you?". The american dude goes "sure, why not?!" My wise egyptian friend goes "now if i dip my finger in your orange juice, would you still drink it?". The american dude goes "no fukking way!". The egyptian dude went for the kill with "its the same deal with girls"
A light bulb went off in my mind. Surely just like I wouldnt drink an orange juice that has been fingered by someone else, why would i have a girl who has been....
I am not sure if that really happened or whether he was just making it up. But he made his point well. Dont know how he would have constructed a similar anecdote to undeline the importance of male virginity though.

wrong anomaly. how can you detect if some one has dipped a finger in your cup?
Widows and divorced should be accepted happily in most of the religions esp. islam.
Not funny Atif. Besides, I don’t think that an American will entertain a stupid Misri. They are just too thick.
I asked one of my european friend about the above topic and he said "well when you go to fruit market, you pick the best fruit for yourself, ofcourse others may also have checked it out already before you get to it, it does not suite their taste, but you like it"
atif's argument, that is.
