Salim's Views on the List of Countries Ranked for Quality of Life

Much has been discussed about the top 500 countries in which to live. From Zambia to Afghanistan, every country known to men, and a few women, has been ranked for the quality of life, amount of income, and general characteristics that define good living.

What is amusing is that the whole nonsense is based on averages. If one averages temperature over land mass, the United States turns out to be one frigid place - thanks to the disproportionate contribution of Alaska. Never mind the benefits of the weather prevalent in Florida, California, and Hawaii - Alaska makes it too cold to live in.

The quality of life in Islamabad, Defence Society, Malabar Hill, and South Delhi is definitely lost thanks to Wanna Wanna, Swat (yup, Swat the ex-paradise), Lalukhet, Grant Road, and Chandni Chowk. Throw in FATA, Baluchistan, Northern Areas, Bihar, Orissa, and a number of other jurisdictions and both Pakistan and India approach Zimbabwe and Chad in "average" living conditions.

It was rather surprising to see Soodi Arabia so far up in the comfort zone. LOL
I guess, Bin Laden's cave is probably in a similar category - the best life money can buy. Soodi Arabia is the anomaly that discredits the entire list.

Salim sahib:

Chandani Chowk ki jalebiaan aur chaat, you have to enjoy it, before passing a judgment on its contribution to ranking.
