LONDON: An 18-year-old boy from Karnataka is undergoing army cadet training at home and plans to join a British infantry regiment to fight the
Taliban militants.

Sharat S Mulchandi, plans to join the British army when he flies into the UK.

"Pakistan is a breeding ground for terrorists, it's dangerous for India. We will never forget what the fanatics did last year in Mumbai," Mulchandi was quoted by The Sunday Express.

Over 170 people were killed in the Mumbai attack in November 2008.

In March there were just 80 Indian nationals in the British Army. The total is expected to rise considerably when new figures are compiled.

Indians can join as the British Army as they are nationals of the Commonwealth countries.

Army sources say there has been "a surge recently because of the threat of a Taliban victory in Afghanistan, which would have serious consequences for India's Muslim neighbour, Pakistan", the paper said.

Pakistan is reeling from a wave of attacks by the Taliban militants in the past 10 days, which killed 150.

Akbar...
What do you feel Paki army doing for the dole it accepted from USA?
Gurkhas fought for British army long time and if you get moolah for fighting your own cause, what more should you expect?

1)We have all seen how Pak Army..went into fight Jihadis in its own boundaries came out with a bloody nose 5 out of 5 times and surrendered itself to jihadis with "truce" agreements.

2) Who can forget serial terror attacks last week and GHQ attacks. On ur own army HQ and took ur own soldiers hostage. lol...and killed brigadier..

3)All your schools and colleges are closed indefinetly right now..lol

Its so pathetic situation in Pak and ppl come here and comment on chowk as if nothing is happening.

If an Indian is joining British Army then it gives him a better chance to Kill few Pakis in Afghanistan. Why dont you appreciate it. It will only make one less Jihadi for Pak..

If Indians couldn't fight down the terrorists in Mumbai itself before they killed hundreds of people, what glorious example are they going to set across two borders?
Better train them to fight in your own country.
