I am a major Mushy supporter and feel that the guy has really done a lot for our country over the last 7 years. We need a strong man like him and I think it is absolutely ridiculous that anyone is considering the two criminals who have both had two chances each. I would like to see Mushy stay on for another 5 years to complete the process of handing things over to the public while someone like Imran should be there as PM to hold them all accountable and ensure that the ordinary people are represented.
If they, the self-appointed beacons of Pakistani democracy (Bibi & Nawaz), were really sincere to the country, they would step aside and let someone else from their party come to the fore and become PM while they retained the Chairmanship. The fact that they feel that the laws of our country should be changed to allow for them to run for a third time rather than them step aside and let someone else from their party take that position, this reveals how little confidence they truly have in democracy and the ability of others to also lead, and also at the same time reveals their indifference to the long-term affects on the country which they themselves say is lacking in democracy. What about their own parties?
Imran is not Bibi and he isn't Nawaz. He does say some silly things at times but so does Bibi and Nawaz is just full of them because he is a dihati kisan. Nawaz is better than Bibi but Imran is better than both. The youth have caught on to Imran and most young people (less than 30) that I know are voting for Imran this time around.
To those who say things like, he is just a cricketer and should stick to bedding white women...I say that he has represented Pakistan proudly and patriotically which is something that neither Bonnie (Bibi) and Clyde (Nawaz) have done. Regarding his bedding a lot of women, poor Shaukat couldn't even get Condi to give him some and that is just pathetic. If it was Imran, she would have been sucking his toes under the table.
I do think that Imran will introduce a new culture of Politics in Pakistan and that would really be in the interests of our country. He has the support of ordinary, middle class, educated and young people. When you look at Bibi's convoy, you get a bunch of scary looking Sindhi Vaderas and renowned witches like Sherry Rehman. With Nawaz you have his dumb son who looks like one of the Teletubbys and a league of robber baron industrialist politicians. With Tehreek-e-Insaaf (TI) we will get much more involvement of the youth, of the middle classes and of the expatriate Pakistani community abroad with whom TI has more in common than either the Feudal party (PPP) or the Robber Industrialists of Punjab Party (PML-N) or the Terrorist Party (MQM). The inclusion of these people in the process of governing our country and in the politics of our country will be irreversible. All you had to do was watch Dawn News coverage last night of their anchor interviewing ordinary students who mostly were of the opinion that they had no voice in Pakistan, but they would gladly participate in politics if they had a platform or the opportunity. I see the creation of several new platforms and new segments of the voting class with the rise of Tehreek-e-Insaaf (TI). We need more parties and I am sure all of you would rather support TI than MQM or Sipa-e-Sahaba.
Imran's senior party members include people who are ordinary...some of them have even been employees companies of friends of mine....so they truly are ordinary, not industrialists or the bastard land lords feudals of Pakistan.
Yesterday Dawn News kept trying to get a senior TI official to say that Jamaat Islami had been traitors and broken their alliance because of what happened at Punjab University. The TI official was so sober, calm and sensible when he said that he had spoken to Imran and they felt that they needed to focus on the main issue which was the Judiciary and the state of emergency....they did not want to fight with Jamaat and said that Jamaat is their ally and they are taking care of what happened within their party. I felt it was very reasonable, sensible and forward looking for them to say that and it impressed me that they didn't take that opportunity (as Bibi or Altaf would have) to bash another party and boost their own popularity at the expense of peace in the country and the main issues for which they are fighting.
Arab News Editor in Chief when interviewed by Dawn said it well, he said that it is shameful how some leaders (Bibi & Nawaz) feel that it is their God given right to rule over Pakistan and they are misusing their parties for their own gains while people are dying on the streets and the country is getting destabilized.
I am not a member of TI, but am really thinking about it. We desperately need new faces in our country's politics and Imran is the right guy to fill that role for now. I urge people to vote for Imran and give him a chance.
