Guwahati (PTI): Five persons were injured in an IED blast by suspected ULFA militants in upper Assam's Lakhimpur township.
The IED concealed in a bag of a bycycle exploded infront of the post office and the deputy commissioner's office in the heart of Lakhimpur town last night, police sources said on Thursday.
The police said the blast damaged a Border Road Organisation (BRO) vehicle parked nearby and also a portion of the wall of the post office.
Police has launched a massive manhunt to nab the ultras, sources added.

GUWAHATI: Normal life was paralysed in the Brahmaputra valley during the 12-hour Assam Bandh called by the banned militant outfit ULFA on Tuesday.
The bandh was total in both the lower and upper Assam districts of the valley but failed to evoke any response in the three districts of Barak valley, official sources said.
All educational institutions, commercial establishments and banks remained closed while attendance in government offices was thin.
Vehicular traffic remained off the road though some long-distance buses left early in the morning with police personnel, they said.
Train services were, however, unaffected with most of them leaving for their destinations as per schedule, North East Frontier Railway sources said. Air services too remained unaffected.
The bandh was called to protest against the arrest of ULFA peace talks facilitator, Lachhit Bordoloi for his alleged involvement in a plan to hijack an aircraft from Guwahati airport.
