A dual challenge!

Posted: Jul 14, 2008 Mon 03:53 am     Views: 188    Interacts: 2

The honest toilers; our ancestors,
collected the stones thrown at them,
and the mud slung at them, to build a house.
They mixed the ingredients with their
sweat and their blood; the color of love
To make it a home.

A few seeds of mistrust evolved into trees of
contempt in the hearts of the second generation.
And with the help of neighbors
they themselves erected a wall of separation.

The nameplate of my home which used to
read, 'unity' is rusted and withered since long.
Suspicion crept into our yard and settled
in every corner of the square as if
measuring a division.

I can hear the footsteps of aliens fast
approaching our home, and I'm faced
with a dual challenge; of repairing the
storm lashed doors and of wiping all
the germs of contempt.

I'll keep forces of 'division' at bay
'Its a negative process' said a mathematician.

Thank you kashkin! We cannot do much but won't swallow the pain without expressing ourselves through our words. Thanx for being there!

Aadil,
just simply beautiful. " i will keep forces of division at bay, its a negative process said a mathematician"..

you are so right how the sacrifices of our elders and all those things that took place now replaced and the questions remain which you so ably asked: what do we do? will we be able to act as a nation at the right time or will we forever lose that opportunity to differentiate between what is right and wrong; between good and evil; between day and night and between darkness and light....the choices upon us, as individuals, as society and as a nation.

what path we will follow as once ashfaque ahmed said in his by the by conversations- the path of falah or the path of tareqi......

well keep up this struggle as we all are with you..Dont be troubled my friend; you will find us there with you in wiping the germs of contempt!!!!
