One forty

I couldn’t sleep all night, I have this condition, don’t know what its called, but when I hear about someone’s medical problems I mysteriously acquire the symptoms. This just lasts a day or two but its very annoying. So here my cousin was telling me about her high blood pressure and the conversation gave me a headache. I tried to explain to her that every problem has a solution, the problem is that most people are more interested in their immediate problem then in the solution. Because they have had their problem for a while there is a certain amount of attachment to the problem and its hard to let go. When you start giving solutions to the problem there is an immediate reaction of resistance to the solution. And then all the justifications start coming out, they start out as the reason I have the problem is…. Or that will not solve my problem, or that will leave me with a bigger problem or you don’t understand the complexity of the situation.
All the solutions require some action, here our laziness kicks in and we would rather have the problem then do the work that is required to solve the problem. I was telling my cousin that there are three kinds of solutions, this of course comes from my mathematics background. The first is the obvious one solution, then we have infinitely many solutions, such is the case with the majority of real life problems. Finally we have no-solution, it is also a solution, because recognizing a situation with no solution gives one acceptance and prevents wasting our time looking for something that does not exist.
Back to why I couldn’t sleep, the power kept going in and out and now I hear in the news that it is a city wide phenomenon. So here is my solution and I am surprised that no one has thought about it yet. All these million dollar homes in defense could easily be run by solar power instead of generators. Lets look at the cost, the cost in North America for a home to become self sufficient is about $50,000 amortized over 10 year that comes out to be about $500 per month. With all air conditioners running full blast in a home here in defense the owner is easily paying $300 to $400 per month. If solar power was an industry in Pakistan because of the savings in labor cost we could easily shave that $500 per month to the $300 per month that some of the consumers are already paying. All you need is a vision that some of the houses in defense will be covered with solar panels. Environmentally friendly, and cost effective, and self-sufficient, leaving the KESC to serve those that really need the power.
Solving a problem in Pakistan is a lot easier then any other place in the world. My first reaction to a problem is that most people already know the solution, in fact the only reason it is a problem is because people are either too lazy or stubborn to implement the solution. My final answer to any problem is go read “Surah Yaseen” forty-one times and ask God for help, If that does not work, I up the dose to seventy-two times and if that does not work try seven hundred and seventy nine times. Chances are that the person with the problem will not seek your help after that.
I had this beggar come to me yesterday, he was asking me to pray for his mother, I told him go away can’t you see I am trying to pray. Now if he had hit me straight up for cash I would have given it to him, seems like begging has gone downhill as an art form, we get all kinds of stories each involving the idea that I am not begging, it is beneath me to do so, so therefore preserve my dignity and give me some money. My solution is to give cash to those that ask for it and are straight about it.
Our task for today is to book a party at the Golf club, so first we have to find a member. A Seath is needed who can afford the $15,000 membership of the Golf club. Then we can book a room for approximately $500 for the party. The golf club is right next to the ocean and is a beautiful club with all kinds of facilities. Lets see if we can get in, I see how people are kept out.
This morning I went for a walk, nice breeze, and there was this smell in the air, I couldn't quite place this familiar smell, a mixture of acetone, hydrogen sulfide, reminded me of the grade twelve chemistry lab. I walked to the local Donut shop to get a coffee, and all the way there I was thinking where in my memory is this smell. In fact it started to bother me, the smell was all over. After having my morning coffee and smoke and on my way back it hit me, aha, the familiar smell was me!
