Happiness…a state of mind

Posted: Sep 22, 2007 Sat 09:41 am     Views: 249

There's never a “y” in happiness there's always an “I” in happiness..these words are so rightly said by famous actor will Smith in his movie "pursuit of happiness"..where he corrects the spelling frm "happyness" to "happiness" which he reads at his sons play school.
Some days back, after a very long time I met a happy person…someone who’s genuinely happy in life and completely at peace with himself.he happens to be bro’s music teacher , when he came in bro had to leave for his college exam..so I decided I’ll talk to his music teacher for a while , just for courtesy sake and also because on few occasions before we had exchanged few words. So, we talked…rather he talked and I listened. The talk started off with trivial matters and gradually shifted over to more serious issues , he talked abt himself..his life , family , work and all
While he was talking about his life , his inner self was so much brimming with happiness tht it all manifested on his face…I could witness his glowing face and the sparkle in his eyes…I just couldn’t take my eyes off him, and I wanted him to go on with his talk.I wondered whats it that makes this man so happy. Materialistic things? Sure wasn’t the answer , as he lives in a one room kitchen…tiny room in a chawl , somewhere in suburban Mumbai..and travels all the way to town for his work.Few years back he was in a much more bad condition and he narrated this one incident of his life , when he was so much desperately in need of money…quite a huge amount that he needed , but he wasn’t doing so well professionally and neither could he take help from his family members , he was completely broken down , and at that time..in time of need he got help from people from whom he had no expectations at all…..thts how he could come out of trouble , and he cried then coz once again god had proved his existence to him ….how god helps us in different ways and forms ..at times we don’t realize that.
Now he is just so happy with life and completely at peace with himself .He works hard for his present and future , but the most important thing he absolutely enjoys his work , he teaches music , painting , sculpting.
Happiness is just a state of mind , riches cannot buy it neither can being poor make you less happy , what matters is that a person should have right perspective .
