Is hay-fever suffered the whole world over?

It's a serious question. I only ask because I'm a sufferer, though not as chronically as some. In England one never hears about people in other lands with the same problem - though I have a friend in Australia who gets it far more severely than I do. Is it confined to the 'temperate-zones' or can it affect anybody irrespective of geographical location? - presumably, though, not those in Arctic or desert areas. In my younger years I was never debilitated by it, but then into my 20s I started getting what I dismissed as 'Summer colds'(!) Only later still did I cotton on to the synchronicity of the inconvenience with the time of year. For me the worst months are April - July, though, as I say it's nowhere near as bad for me as for some. My worst trouble is with itchy eyes and, sometimes, runny nose. Neither of my parents suffered - they both lived in India until into their 30s but even in England it didn't affect them. Is there perhaps some 'traditional' remedy which may be effective in alleviating the symptoms in addition to the nasal spray I take, which does help at least a bit? I hear that for some people just they just wake up one day and find it's no longer there. If it's true I'm getting impatient.

in short, it is not as common all over the world, but yes, it does occur. i started getting hay fever when i moved to australia (probably because my immune system wasn't used to those particular pollens, so overreacted), but i should have expected it, my mum and dad both have it.
