The cat is out of the bag. Information is made public. Courtesy the national press once again. Ridiculous numbers that are revealed, based on the asset declarations made by our reverend senators, are outrageous to say the very least. Of all the people, the Baluchistan burial case fame Israr Zehri tops the list. The man has at least the guts to assert that he owned 50,000 acres of agricultural lands in addition to bungalows in Karachi, Islamabad and Quetta and declared ownership of a couple of business concerns.
Tales of the worst poverty stricken class are touching to the core. Just imagine some of the Senators riding a shabby mini bus, a shrieking rickshaw or a thunderous Gingxi in a terrific rush to make their appearance in a Senate session. That’s what I gather when they deny any ownership with regards to a personal vehicle leaving behind public transport as a reliable substitute. If your interpretation is any different please let me know?
What is even more appalling and moving is the fact that most of these members of the August House can’t afford their own house to live in. Instead they are wilting under the load of heavy debts. Guess who is to be blamed for the poor economy and preposterous interest rates?
Thanks goodness. I must be one of the most affluent and prosperous souls residing in the country. At least that’s what these figures and my tax returns suggest. In spite of my ordinary earnings and resources, am destined to contribute a lot more to the national exchequer as compared to these so-called elites. No one asks me when the deductions are made out of my salary each month. But what right have I got to complain anyway when some of these presumed privileged and distinguished Senators are living in such abject distress?
Worst is perhaps the plight of an honourable ex minister. With just Rs.35,000/- in his kitty and dependent upon his wife and brothers for all the shared property, what a miserable life he must be leading? After all, it really takes something to survive in this era with such high sustenance costs.
Anyone with Zakat or charity overdue?

We, the common folks have no right to complain of our deteriorating life standards for our Senators are worst off!
Its high time we started a nation-wide campaign to help raise funds for our the survival of elites from the cruel clutches of poverty!
Kudos, Delirium, for making the point public!
