Mukhtaran Mai Rape
Pakistani woman, Mukhtaran Bibi, from Meerawala, Punjab was a victim of gang rape as a form of honor-revenge. The Pakistani media brought national and international attention to this case pressurizing the government to deliver justice and compensation to Mukhtaran Mai. Since then Mukhtaran Mai began her work for education of girls and raising awareness on the plight of women in Pakistan.
