#63, what about working on the European American community so that they give up their racism where it comes to people of color or working on the Zionist and Jewish communities so that they give up their inherent superiority complex as God`s ``chosen people``- those communities need work as well.

re: this article
This article is crap.
Author`s very premise is wrong. He is supposing that other religions hate jews. That is totally wrong. christians, Hindus, Buddhists do not have anything against jews. They certainly do not hate jews. That leaves out Islam.
It is well known that hatred for jews is built into the religion. Qoran says so implicitly not to trust jews.
Author has also clubbed together Pakis with Indians, the same equal-equal thing that we have been hearing of late from Pakis.
sentences like:
(It was obvious that there were no gangs among the Jewish children unlike among the West and South Asians, or,...)
(This was amid nearly daily reports from across the Atlantic about “honour” killings among virtually every South Asian community in Europe and, who knows how many more in South Asia itself.)
Author seems to say that other religions hate jews because they are less prone to violence!
What a preposterous idea!
I am not aware of any ``Indian gangs`` in Chicago. Most of the violence from the so called South Asian community is probably from Pakis.
I am well aware of Devon Ave. I used to frequent that place when i lived in chicago (for a brief 6 months). The road in front of the Indian section is called ``Mahatma Gandhi Road`` and the one in front of the Paki section is, (no prizes for guessing this one!) called Md Ali Jinnah road. That pretty much sums up the division. Pakis may stray into the Indian section but Indians rarely visit the Paki section. The 2 live cheek by jowl without interacting much.
South Asian community indeed!

#56, the India situation is not the same as the Israel/Palestine situation simply because India, as far as I can tell is not occupied by a foreign power that has converted it into a country wide prison and as a result impoverished the people. In order for education etc to work, you must have viable institutions, economic and others. In the case of Palestine, these have been completely destroyed by deliberate design by the Israelis. No other place in the current epoch, have we seen this being done so systematically for the past almost 5 decades as it has in the Occupied Territories, in complete visibility of the global community which says and does nothing.
Further, those Muslim invaders you talk about did not impoverish the people of India like Israel is doing to the Palestinians, the empirical proof of that is the fact that India`s industry was more highly developed than even the British industry at the time of the British occupation of India; now, I`m not justifying any invasion whatsoever, don`t get me wrong, I`m merely looking at the effects, after the eventsn of what happened. Each has to be studied on its own details, and unfortunately I`m not a scholar of Indian history and right now have no desire to dwell on the past but to look at what is going on at the current time and how the future can be made better. Thanks for the post and i appreciate your concerns.

I don`t think the Paki Muslims hate jews as human beings. A Paki friend of mine, who has travelled widely world over, says, ``Whenever I met a good man anywhere he was invariabely found to be either a Jew or an Ahmadi``. In fact the hatred of Muslims, especially the Paki ones, is merely politically macro or Mullah motivated; they show hatred for `Ahle-Kitab` Jews and for Ahmadies (who claim to be Muslims as well) but make a show of love for the Chinese irrespective of their faith. In fact the greatest offence for a human being is to be weak and vulnerable.

#57 pmishra2: I do agree with what you have to say. I read your post #9, and I don`t think that it was hateful. In my opinion, for the most part Arabs are still in their arrogant state of affairs. And for the most part, Pakistani sunni muslims are totally confused. In the local mosques` politics, in my observation, for the most part, Pakistani muslims have removed themselves from the Arab muslims. They have gone their separate ways by creating their own separate mosques, etc. Nowadays, Pakistani sunnis are rudderless and it seems that they are lost.
I think that these Pakistani sunnis, generally, do not hate jews. However, it seems since the Zia administration, somehow it has become fashionable for these Pakistani sunnis to degrade other minorities including the jews. And since, they would rarely get any resistance from the listener they would continue with their vitriolic comments.
As for myself, I have always provided complete and total resistance to these thoughts. I have observed then, that these same people would sheepishly adjust their corrupt anti-jewish thoughts and words.
We must collectively contnue to work on some elements in the western Pakistani sunni communities to remove all the negative thoughts and negative words regarding other religious minorities.

good point. Maybe in another 300 years the apology will come too. There is certainly a ground swell towards it that is building. Islam will get there at some point.

Ok, buddy lets tangle. Show me ONE statement from a respected islamic university or college that states jews are OK as a faith and deserve respect. UNCONDITIONALLY. Not some rubbish about ``if you give us XXX, then you are OK``. Come one, lets see who is talking nonsense and hate.
The Pope has personally apologized to jews for violence over past 1000 years. He said that Christians should practice apology for 1000 years.
Show me one similar statement from a modern muslim leader in middle-east, south or south-east asia.
Hurry up, i am waiting....

... in two sentences you sentenced two great religions to hang till death...and still think i have ``mental deficiencies``...go ahead, be happy it`s your happiness we all are concerned..coz remember...we love you for what you are....a hate filled sicko...;)

The nice thing about the internet and chowk is that it is completely public. Only someone who has mental deficiencies views post #9 as hateful. You can stay in your deluded world as long as you like.
The extreme and senseless hatred from a large part of islam for jews, israel, and anything connected with them is well documented. The most horrible thing is that even the muslims of south and south-east asia, who have NO connection to the problems of middle-east have been taught these horrible and hateful beliefs. It is as though Hindus in Bengal and UP were taught that all buddhists were evil because of the problems in Sri Lanka! Real crazy stuff!
The civilized and hinduized islam of south and south-east asia has been destroyed and largely replaced by a colonized and extremist version of wahhabi arabism. Pakistan is a pioneer in this project. This is why hatred for jews is entrenched in pakistani socierty when there maybe at most 10 jews living in Pakistan.

Masadi,
Everyone knows and recognizes that Palestinians are an oppressed people and have suffered injustice. Israelis themselves admit it. The jewish experience during WW2 was so horrific, that they were hell bent on getting their own country and unfortunately for Palestinians, they selected that same strip of land to create their homeland.
Throughout history, we have seen one group of people migrating and/or invading other people without any provocation. That is a part of human experience. I am sure you as a muslim strongly support Ghaznavi/Ghouri/Mughal invasions of India. Did we hindus harm anybody in Central Asia or Middle-East to be invaded in that manner? We were leading our lives peacefully and minding our own business. Yet we were invaded repeatedly and suffered imperial rule for 800 years. Millions of hindus converted and eventually separted to create their own country Pakistan.
Was this fair to us? Why did it happen to us hindus? Has God punished the people who imposed this injustice on us? I am sure your response will be to go back further and say that Aryans did the same to Dravidians 5000 years back. So why be upset at what muslims did to hindus.
There is always a struggle for existence and the survival of the fittest. We may hate it and be angry at it but that is the force of nature. Hindus lost to muslims because we had become an ignorant, caste obsessed society that did not have the political or military strength to fight. The same way Palestinians lost because they were too weak to defend themselves.
So what is the bottom line? It is to learn the lessons from history and figure out how to become strong yourself so that NOW you can defend yourself. We Indians have done that. Instead of crying over history and sending suicide bombers to Pakistan, Afghanistan or Iran, we have focused on economy, education, building military strength, reducing caste issues to the extent that India is on the verge of becoming a superpower. Palestinians need to do the same. Its futile to wallow in depression and send young kids to detonate suicide bombs. More important is to get a Palestinian state and then focus on education and economy to create a strong nation. That is the best solution to the Palestinian problem.

#39 madaniji,
I`d say INDIANS are conflicted about israel - there`s no hatred of jews but we don`t like the idea of a state created for people of any one religion. We don`t believe in TNT.
Our ideological twins of your TNTists, the hindutvavadis, since they do believe in TNT are indeed staunch supporters of israel.
