This is a common error in the thinking of people who have absolutely no clue about how the world operates. The decisions made by the American elite not only affect the daily lives of the Americans, they affect what happens around the world. For example, when the American elite decides to subsidize their ag products to over produce, this affects how the poor will fare with their crops in the developing world. When the US elite decides to sanction a country it affects that country. When the IMF/WB does structural adjustment it affects the lives of people in the developing world, i.e. Pakistan/India etc. The problems of Pakistan have their origin more often than not in the decisions made by the US elite.

By saying that Pakistan should be worried about its problems and not worry about what goes on outside, Kulharee sahib deliberately wants to make people believe that every country is operating in vacuum like conditions, which is not the case- the world is interconnected, globalized and the playing field is rigged against the developing nations, set up to make them fail and fail they do thanks to the institutional setup dominated by the US elite. Those who try to study facts as detached or country specific do not realize that poverty is a global issue that affects ALL countries of the world and therefore local issues are not the cause.

#17, Kulharee Sahib, once again you are trying to distact and deceive. The discussion was not about 9/11, also know that many unanswered questions remain about 9/11, the official line that you have swallowed without question has many flaws. Even the biased commission that was set up by bush stated explicitly that the authorities missed chance after chance after chance (9 times) to stop this from ever happening- reveals complicity to me, plain and simple. Further if motive is sought, the way 9/11 was used to painlessly invade Iraq reveals complicity as well.

Now, that said, you would NEVER and I guarantee it tell your American reporter friends that talks BS about Pakistan/India/Middle East, 24/7 , you would NEVER tell them things like ``wannabe`` etc. That by itself reveals your inferiority complex. I never called for Pakistani journalists to imitate Americans, never- there is nothing great about the plastic journalism in America, the news, the smiles, the set all is FAKE.

You want to know about the US elites, here http://elite.asadi.org, I did a whole video on it watch it, read the articles and you`ll know what it is all about. It is a theoretical model well confirmed by ample empirical evidence. However, since Chowk is censoring all my articles, you all dont get to know it, in the last three days they have censored 2 more that I submitted which reveals a shameful sham

By “usual nonsense” I meant the journalistic contributions in Pakistan suggesting that 9/11 was Israeli doing, and 4000 Jews were missing from work. Is that your benchmark for potential Pulitzer prize journalism? If there is anyone recycling, it is you Sir, who can’t seem to pass out the American Elite log stuck someplace in the system. Since you have used that term in every single interact of yours, would you like to explain who exactly are these demons you talk about? Throw some names. Will ya?

Shakir Husain, I am truly sorry that someone (hint: Asadi Sahib) has steered this whole thing into his usual American Elite bashing kickboxing. It is this kind of diversion that is hurting Pakistan more than the morons that are ruling it. Pakistanis living in Pakistan should be concerned more about Pakistani issues than worry about how many Jews were missing on 9/11. You have done an outstanding job in discussing Pakistani problems without mentioning “America” in your analysis. That in itself speaks volumes about the quality of your work. seems a pretty black and white judgment by you. You should tell the wannabe`s like Rumsfeld, Cheney etc when they talk about Iraq and Afghanistan, or the US press when it talks about the Middle East or our parts of the world. The WTO, War on Terrorism has nothing to do with living in the US, the world is affected more by what the US does than locals, that is a fact.

You are trying to put down people and journalists from ``our parts of the world``- then you are talking about them not coming within ``200 miles`` of our ideas- sounds like a good case of inferiority complex to me- Nevertheless, hope you get over it.

#9, Kulharee sahib, I am aware of your inferiority complex where you consider the American superior to all that come from our parts of the world, but please don`t impose this total nonsense/garbage on everyone here. Just such a mentality, calling everyone who wants to understand the world a ``wannabe`` or a ``coconut`` is the one that is harming India and Pakistan, keeping them in a subservient state to the American elite. I see just such a slave mentality when Musharraf is talking to the western press as I see in your words.

Get over it, the Americans or the Europeans are human beings like us, just because their elite have manipulated status and assigned it to everything that is theirs does not mean you have to buy this HS (read H as Horse). Rather tell them to take thier status and their Pulitzers and their Nobel prizes (all bureaucratic garbage) and shove it.

Asadi Sahib, you are taking what I said out of every milieu. What I said (and I don’t think that it was that hard to realize) “those Desis living outside of US” wanting to have their opinion weighted by the Americans. Trust me I read enough Indian and Pakistani newspapers and I know that most those who write about the US (particularly about the War on Terrorism or US business practices and MNCs, and WTO, and etc.) have little to no clue about the US and they make themselves seem bigger fools than they are otherwise. I have no problem with Desis living in the US, working in Journalism (of which there are plenty, and I am friends with quite a few). Similarly, there are idiots writing for papers like the Guardian of London about the US “related” issues without ever setting a foot in the US. It is a fact.

Not just that, there are American journalists who write about Mideast issues and Asian issues and sometimes they make a total fool of themselves. I exchanged quite a few e-mails with Kristof of the NYTimes when he visited Islamabad a few months ago and wrote a few op-ed pieces about Pakistan. He was wrong on a few accounts, and I conveyed to him my feelings to help him understand our part of the world. Things are not as black and white as you seem to make them.

I think this is all good. From what I know, pakistan defence developed areas are some of the best in the world. Compare that to shabby DDA (dilli dev aouthority) flats etc. Any pakistani travelling to India can (or Indian travelling to pakistan) can attest to the fact that the amenities of blue areas compared to indian stuff is far better. They have formed a niche expertize which in a capitalist society would be floated into a separate corporation with an invaluabel core-competancy (no pun intended).

A very refreshing change to read an article by a “Pakistani” journalist writing about “Pakistani” challenges and opportunities instead of the usual nonsense and garbage by Indo-Pak wannabe Pulitzers without having a slightest clue about the US (as well as their own countries).

#6, true but unfortunately that will not happen- whoever becomes CMLA is automatically a slave to the American, that is how (sadly) the military institution is structured, and that is how COAS are formed- others that think different are dropped/passed over along the way, it is precisely for this reason I term the Pak Army as the US occupation force in Pakistan, indigeneously staffed. Institutional structure is important for this very reason, it produces particular personality-types, automatically due to the structure that is in place, and as we have seen all CMLA`s /COAS have done their master`s bidding even though it has involved treason, in the purest form of the word. They destroyed Pakistan fighting the ``cold war`` and now they are destroying it fighting the ``war on terror``. There is probably no other country, other than the ones directly attacked, that have been so used and abused by the US elite.

C. W. Mills summarized this social psychology of institutional structure, that produces uniform personality types, regarding the US elites when he states:

“The interesting point is how impossible it is for such men to divest themselves of their engagements with the corporate world in general and with their own corporations in particular. Not only their money but their friends, and interests, their training-their lives in short- are deeply involved in this world…To ask a man suddenly to divest himself of these interests and sensibilities is almost like asking a man to become a woman.” (C. Wright Mills, The Power Elite, 1956: 285)
