You shitty harimau,
Don`t think you are a genius. All that you say are shitty crap. You don`t know to give respect others. You are an insult to the community whatever U belong. Search in google. You will find lots of sites saying that ``tamil`` is oldest language. Well, I am not proving tamil is the only oldest language, as I was not born 2000 yrs back. Some says sanskrit the oldest and others say tamil is oldest. (so what, if the ancient tamil is difficult to read, it was still a tamil language).
Karunanidhi was against the domination of Hindi and not against the sanskirt. U dumbshit, you don`t know the difference between Hindi and Sanskrit. Your parents must feel very sad for having a shitty son like you.
Also, being against Hindi was history. Now you can see lots of people studying Hindi in TN even if Karunanidhi is CM.
So what Karunanidhi`s original language is not tamil. There are many tamil poets in Karnataka and in AP. You dumbshit don`t know that.
Next time, you say anything bad about others, I will think that you will talk in same shitty way with your parents also

``this is because, while usage of Sanskrit/Persian etc was limited to a small section of the population, English is all pervasive and is displacing local languages in a manner that will be difficult to reverse.``
Good point. Hadn`t thought of that before...Thanks, Layman.

[Actually, English is a greater threat than Hindi to Tamil. Tamil (and other Indian languages) have withstood `threats` from other languages for a long time...... Now, knowledge of English is important to get a job. Indian languages have withstood challenges from Sanskrit and Persian/Arabic and survived despite poverty and low literacy rates. Ironically today, even though we are generally better off than before and have higher literacy rates, Indian languages are facing their most serious threat from English. This is because, while usage of Sanskrit/Persian etc was limited to a small section of the population, English is all pervasive and is displacing local languages in a manner that will be difficult to reverse. At this rate, in another ten years, everyone in India will be communciating with other Indians only in English.`
Well, if the South hadn`t learnt English, there would be no possibility of code coolies going to the US or UK from India or having BPOs and Call Centers for their companies in India. Without English, the South would look exactly like Bihar. In fact Anbumani (literally, ``Love Jewel``) Ramadoss as well as his dad could get their MBBS degrees because they learnt some English.
So your choice is learning a living by losing a little bit of your language or starving to death. I guess Ramadoss would prefer to see his fellow Tamils starve to death because he has already mde his millions thanks to the stupidity of the Masanamuthus.

[What is the link between Tamil and Sanskrit? DMK contends that Tamil is older than Sanskrit.]
Two separate language families altogether. But Tamil has certainly borrowed a lot of Sanskrit words in the last 2000 years. Most Tamils cannot understand ancient Tamil literature unless they are provided with a translation into modern Tamil.
For all their pride in the Tamil language, theses dumbshits actually used the palmleaf manuscripts as fuel for their household kitchens, thus destroying a major part of their literary heritage. This is exactly what happens when illiterate people are entrusted with precious treasures. The same scenario is repeated today when you have people with a sense of entitlement based on their caste are entrusted with government jobs.
[I read somewhere that Karuna Nidhi once wanted to remove all the Sanskrit words from Tamil without realizing that the words Karuna and Nidhi themselves are of Sanskrit origin.]
Not only did Karunanidhi change his name (according to some sources) from the Sanskrit name Dakshinamurthy to the equally Sanskritic Karunanidhi, he named his grand-nephews Kalanidhi and Dayanidhi. He has grandsons with Sanskrit names. One of his daughters-in-law is named Durga; he has not changed her name to Surpanakha (a name dear to his mentor E V Ramaswamy Naicker, another non-Tamil worhipped by the dumbshit Tamils) or Love Queen.

Hopefully, Sree Narayana Reddy talked to Karunanidhi in Telugu, Karunanidhi`s mother-tongue no matter how much he attempts to hide that fact.

Harimau and Masanamuthu,
Thanks for your replies.
``They are all sufficiently integrated now to name their kids Tamil Selvan while discreetly hiding the family name of Reddy. By the way, I wonder if any of you guys back in Andhra name your kids ``Telugu this`` or ``Telugu that`` like the crazies in Tamil Nadu are doing.``
Our folks have different kind of love for the mother tongue. I have seen lot of people who moved from costal Andhra to Hyderabad, started speaking in weird telugu and urdu/hindi mix within 3 moths of such move (not the older generation, the younger generation). One of my friend tried to do that and we had to remind him that it wasn`t long ago he was speaking pure telugu. Language doesn`t evoke much passion in telugu people.

Of course, his great nephew Dayanidhi Maran went to an English-medium school AND learnt Hindi too. Dayanidhi Maran`s first job is that of Minister for IT and Communications at the Federal level. You are laboring as a code coolie and your US employer is probably complaining about your poor spoken English because you went to a Tamil-medium school! Such is life.

[Is there any estimate on Telugu speaking people in Tamilnadu? What is the name of the guy who is planning to start a political party for telugus? What is the contribution of telugu`s living in Tamilnadu with respect to culture, arts, business etc.]
I read the news item about three weeks back in a Tamil newspaper. I don`t remember the details except the claim about 45% of Tamil Nadu population being of Telugu origin.
[My perception is that the telugu community very well integrated into Tamil society and did fairly well for themselves. ]
Well, they did extremely well for themselves when they started wandering in some 400 years back. While the Tamils are justly proud of Tirumalai Naik, the king of Madurai, they forget that the name Naik betrays a non-Tamil origin. Most major zamins were granted to people who served in various armies, be it the Nizam of Hyderabad`s as he conquered southern territory, that of Shivaji`s descendants who established a kingdom in Thanjavur, or Tirumalai Naik`s forebears. A vast majority of their armies consisted of those who tagged along from territories to the north of Madras.
They are all sufficiently integrated now to name their kids Tamil Selvan while discreetly hiding the family name of Reddy. By the way, I wonder if any of you guys back in Andhra name your kids ``Telugu this`` or ``Telugu that`` like the crazies in Tamil Nadu are doing.
[I think the talk about descrimination is just BS to shore up some support among the community. In India these days every startup political party invokes the term descrimination in the begining, particularly when they do not have anything concrete to offer to the people.]
Agreed.
While Githa Hariharan sheds copious tears for the Tamil Christian Dalit Woman Writer College-Graduate Bama, I wonder if she would have any kind words for two of my TamBrahm classmates whose family finances didn`t permit them to go beyond high school. Not likely in the least as they are all Oppressors of the Dalits.
[BTW, I am from Andhra.]

````What is the cost of free and compulsory universal primary education ? What are the job opportunities after universal primary education ? Without thinking about these two little things you might endup with a bigger problem than the one you tried to solve.``
I totally disagree. Regarding costs, we need to give priority to spending on basic things such as education and healthcare. When the govt can find the money to spend on so many other things, why not on education? It will force the govt to become more efficient and less corrupt. ``
Does the Indian government have money for high quality universal education for all ?
`` Regarding job opportunities - well, I dont think universal job education is going to turn everyone into an engineer or a doctor. A minimum of 10th standard education will help both unskilled and skilled workers, create greater awareness of healthcare, political rights etc and less likely to be bullied by the upper castes/classes/whoever-is-strong-at-the-moment. Sri Lanka and China have 80+% literacy - not finding jobs cannot be an excuse to keep people illiterate. You dont need to be a developed country to be 100% literate, though literacy is certainly important to becoming a developed country. If we dont focus on it, we will never become one. ``
Sri Lanka is a great example of high literacy rates, low economic growth and political demagogues causing a nasty ethnic conflict.
I am yet to meet an IITian in USA who thinks his education in IIT should not be subsidized.
Look at the Sep-11 bombers. They were all educated.
Education is great. I am not arguing against universal elementary school education. Be careful for what you wish for.
The title `Harijan` was given by Mahatma Gandhi, who was not a Brahmin. In fact, Mayawati (ex CM of UP and a Dalit) asked - if we are children of God, are you upper castes the children of Shaitan?
