I suggest that Prof. Hoodbhoy should also address in more detail the failures of the brilliant scientists of Pakistan, including himself, in setting up and successfully running the research institutions. Especially, why they could not regenerate themselves and to how far extent they themselves can be held responsible for this unfortunate fact. This is a question which requires introspection on the behalf of these brilliant scientists, who indeed opted to come back to their homeland even when they had career proospects in the West. I would especially like to refer to the establishment of theoretical physics group in late sixties at QAU. Indeed the group consisted of brilliant people but why they had not been able to regenerate themselves, either by convincing other younger brilliant scientists to join them at later times or by recruiting their younger brilliant students, in order to keep alive the group. Wider society is certainly to blame but what about the brilliant scientists` own insincerity and disinterest towards establishing functioning and surviving research groups. At this point their attitude becomes not much different from being authoritarian, to which Prof. Hoodbhoy refers at the later part of his article, in the sense that younger recruits are percieved as threats rather than disciples who are continuing the traditions of their peers.

{So if motorola isn`t coming to Pakiland, that means she`s not influential..? }
Now, bipolar factoid junkie, why would PM Aziz go to Motorola? Keraleans are not known to be good in bed, maybe to uglies like you like their style.

Was she not the one whom Pakistan`s Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz thought would be influential to get Motorola into Pakistan? So much for her influence.
So if motorola isn`t coming to Pakiland, that means she`s not influential..? No way that Pakiland could actually be an unattractive destination right?
Shaukat Aziz also asked IBM and Microsoft to invest in Pakiland..Fact that IBM doesn`t have a research center in Pakistan means IBM is an ineffective company, right?
Retardo, the inbred retard superhero from Pakiland, confuses his delusions with reality once again..

Yep, you must have been day dreaming for Keraleans, or Bengalis, or marathians to talk proper English. It all went out of the door with Nehru who was known to be screwing Mountbatten`s wife.

RSS hindutva is out of their mind once again. Remember Clinton, who spends only five (5) hours at the Lahore airport, and who gave Pakistan lecture on democracy. G.W. Bush is at least spending a couple of days in Islamabad. This shows how wrong your tink tank analysis has been. Pakistan is always going to remain friend of the US, no matter the MNCs claim.
So the US had CNOOC problem, now UAE getting US port is an issue. Next logical step is to have very tight immigration policy. No more shenanigans of bringing 80,000 H1_B hindoo code coolies. The US employers should be held responsible not to hire discriminatory practices of hindoos who do not hire muslims. How many code coolies brought to the US are muslims? None, zilch.
The US should be ashamed that due to their policy a huge segment of religious minority is being economically persecuted. MNC`s are known to be anti-US. Do you remeber Nike, which flagrantly violated US labor laws? Now it is Walmart, which is being taken to task. In HR, Indians are being used to violate yet another law, the EEOC.
{In your impotent rage, } You sperm eater how can you be so namk-haram? You have always liked Pakistani`s sperm.
{Since when has MNC become US`s enemy? } Then, you must not know George Soros who has constantly advocated that MNCs are dangerous to the well being of capitalism.
{Somebody in chowk said u are highly accomplished blah, blah, blah. You yourself said u were an Engineer by profession. Your behavior has been shameful. }
Yes, and this is not what my next accomplishment is going to be. Get rid of the hate mongers like you, who have had nothing to contribute on Chowk, except post bad stuff against the Prophet of Islam. And that is what should be shameful.
{You need to confront the facts. I don`t make the rules. Neither do the 2 million strong Indian community in USA.}
No, you need to grow up and stop your rants against Islam and people of Islamic faith. Your hatred towards Pakistan is based solely on religion. In that process, you, hate monger, have denigrated Parsees of India, and my holy fire, and all other Zoroastrians of the world. Your hatred is not on facts but some nonsense your hindutva RSS has fed you.
I have written this before, and I will write this again. You are a complete disgrace to all Hindoos.
{ As things stand, US is coming close to India in a strategic, economic sense as it serves its geopolitical interests. There is nothing u or anybody else can do about it except may be wailing and screaming in an impotent rage (which is what u are doing in every post). }
O! yeah. Let G.W. Bush come back from his trip, and then the White House will figure out what rubbish was fed from these think tanks who are on the payroll of the MNCs. India can never be strategic partners with the US when the clash of this century takes place between China and the US.
Now that is given. In all this rhetoric if you get any nugget of information, which I am sure that you won`t China is on a collision course with the US, and MNCs will be blown out of the way. The US has been screwed into this for too long, and the US politicians will have to get it right this time.
China`s economy is run by the Government of China, and so is India`s. It is only Pakistan that is liberalizing its economic structure. But, the US will have to strangle China`s growth into other countries such as Latin America, and Africa.

[I have never found a hindoo from Kerala who speaks good English. Have you? Indian teachers are a laughing stock in the US Universities.]
Behram
The Chief Technology Officer of Motorola, Padmashree Warrier or Warrior (however you want to spell it) , is a Hindu from Kerala and a woman to boot.
She can speak English. Of course whether you will be able to understand is a matter of debate.
Now coming back to the topic, let us discuss how Pakistan will be able to produce a good crop of women engineers like Ms. Warrier in the years to come. Wouldn`t that be of greater importance to you than concerning yourself with the bowel movements of people whom you hate?
Speaking of good English it is good practice to precede a noun with a definite or indefinite artilce e.g.
``the US, the Americans, the American value system etc etc.....``
Thanks for the entertainment.

re: Bawa`s impotent rage
(When Michael Savage, a radio talk show was able to divert UAE buyout of American ports, ...)
As i said already, that has to do with the identity of the buyer. If buyer were from Europe or Japan, nobody would object. The port itself, i am told, is run by a British company.

I don`t known man. Perhaps the immigration authorities like the smell of heeng. Why don`t u enlighten us?

re: Beharam`s impotent rage
One eg:
(US is about to embark on massive science and engineering retooling and we must keep Indians out, completely out. We must keep our profession clean. We must hire only those who have been thinking about American jobs and only American value system. We must not work on promoting some BS from the MNC, no matter what Tom Friedman writes about. The world is not flat. And people know that. The incessant propaganda from the MNC to take our jobs away from the western shore should and will be stopped.)
Ha, ha, ha.
So, what do u intend to do? Go for a Direct Action? much like your Jinnah?
or are u going to blow yourself in front of the white house?

The sale of Port authority to Dubai port was stalled for reasons of security. It was done mainly because Dubai is viewed as Arab nation and hence a threat (knee jerk reaction post-9/11). Many Americans have criticised the decision.
In your impotent rage, u also seem to come up with imaginary enemies. Since when has MNC become US`s enemy?

If u have nothing positive to add, why don`t u just stop posting your rubbish. Somebody in chowk said u are highly accomplished blah, blah, blah. You yourself said u were an Engineer by profession. Your behavior has been shameful.

(That is totally rubbish. Of course, for mass consumption this is repeated constantly. But, this is not what decision makers are thinking in Washington.)
The panel discussion that happened at Heritage Foundation (whose link i have posted but i am sure u did not hear it) had Stephen Cohen whose views are given a lot of weightage in the Congress. He is part of the think tank. He castigated Pakistan severely. Pak`s role in future will be confined to fighting terrorism in its midst with the help of USA.
There is some talk about BIT (Bilateral Investment Treaty) with Pak. The impression i got was that this was just a sop for Pakis.
Towards the end of the session, one Paki questioner (much like u) screamed with impotent rage blaming US for treating Pak like a whore. In fact, the only person supporting Pak to some extent was an Indian American woman from an international NGO.

This is what hindooland (otherwise also known as India) is all about:
Get up early in the morning, hindoos head towards railroad tracks for early morning bowel movements. That is what Gandhi decreed them to do.
Then, while squatting on railroad tracks they dream of bedrooms and the hindoo girls are dreaming of sugar daddies. Nowadays, they wonder if the gorgeous westerners would love them.
They schmooze the MNC, thinking that they might get a few extra bucks. Their PM is from the socialist end of the world, who has given up being a sociliast. Like everything else in hindoo-land the poor get shafted. The country lacks good condition for humans to reside and hear these hindoo hate mongers continue to give the MNC party line. With their bogus writing the MNC have always screwed people of all world. Now is the time to wake up the MNC. Americans are galvanizing through various efforts. Wakeupwalmart.org is one such organization where these MNCs will be brought down to their knees.
Ooops, but what about those MNCs that want code coolies, those call center inhumans otherwise also called Indians. The MNC would let us believe that Indians have speak good English. I have never found a hindoo from Kerala who speaks good English. Have you? Indian teachers are a laughing stock in the US Universities. Rote learners from Indian Universities are known that only 15% are up to the western standards. Their quantity notwithstanding they are just waste to be brought into the US on those 80,000 H1_B visas. The good quality workers are left out somewhere else, and it is not found in India.
Quantity does not equate to Quality.
US is about to embark on massive science and engineering retooling and we must keep Indians out, completely out. We must keep our profession clean. We must hire only those who have been thinking about American jobs and only American value system. We must not work on promoting some BS from the MNC, no matter what Tom Friedman writes about. The world is not flat. And people know that. The incessant propaganda from the MNC to take our jobs away from the western shore should and will be stopped.
Examples are the steel deal of Mittal in Europe is one example. The UAE deal of Port security in the US is yet another example. US must be careful and check out Black Veatch who has taken US power plant design jobs to Poona, India. This is a security concern. If we can spend Billions on airports, we must be worried about our power plant designs not to fall on unsavory characters in India.
Ab maza aya tum hindutva keh chahney wallo......

That`s true unfortunately.
However in terms of Behram, his posts are not very accurate. He`s like the ``Nowhere man``. He writes what he wants to write. And in truth, vituperation aside, I find his posts mildly amusing and sometimes boringly repititve.
You can never trust high ranking US officials. -) They can always plead the Fifth.

My dear Warrier sahib,
In case you didn`t notice, less than 10 posts on this board discussed original subject.
Bava ji has been jumping up and down like a monkey and I am only supporting his assertion that US holds Pakistanis in high esteem.
I didn`t make original statement ``Pakistanis sell their mothers for few dollars``. A high ranking US official made that statement. I am sure that Bava ji used this claim as one of the certificates.
