[hamidm: ``the fact remains that a significant majority of the ummah supports this kind of barbaric behavior and needs to be put on the spot``
And where did you collect this factoid?]
Sorry Tauheed saheb, I do not mean to come in-between two maha-rathis! (Just think of a particle of grain caught between two massive old wheels, running at full speed!)
However, can you explain how a humongous population of one billion lets such things happen in this day and age - and does NOTHING to address them - and denies, obfuscates, or merely turns around and tries to attack those very people who bring it to attention?!!
I think it goes a little beyond being passive spectators - don`t you think? I mean the culprits did not drop out of the sky, did they?
They appear more of the home-grown variety, won`t you say?

Zeena #121 Thanks. That picture shows just what kind of animals we share this planet with.

I forgot to mention yet another important form of reaction - it is called obfuscation!
Thanks, #122 Noetherf, for reminding me.

Clearly, I have no special expertise in such matters - like YOU appear to claim!
The photograph appears in an article by a person named Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi - it says the picture was smuggled out of Iran. The same author has published articles in the National Review magazine - which does have a certain amount of reputation (perhaps significantly more than this web site does (at the present time (let us give the editor some more time though, who knows!))).
The intro states:
``Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi, a native of Iran, is an activist and writer. Elio Bonazzi is an Italian-born political scientist. Husband and wife, they are based in New York.``
I choose to believe that author. I believe such an author has more credibility than no-name interactors at this foolish web-site. Especially interactors who disclaim the photograph because the act it depicts does not appear to have been done ``by the Book``!
Simple as that!
Now, irrespective of the quality of this particular photograph, the real question is:
HAS ANYONE DENIED THAT SUCH STONINGS HAVE OCCURED IN THAT COUNTRY?
(Hint: Has any one denied that actual amputation of hands occurred during the Taliban regime in Afghanistan?)
The actual act won`t look very different from what is shown here - or would it? Or are you suggesting that they actually do it in more humane ways?

zeemax,
........... i am surprised to see you defending the islamists who are throwing a hissy fit over some innocuous cartoons of a long-dead arab who claimed that he talked to god .......... who says that god and religion should not be mocked and put to the same test as other ideas and theories ?
........... and so what if the picture of the poor woman being prepped for ritual stoning is doctored ?.......... the fact remains that a significant majority of the ummah supports this kind of barbaric behavior and needs to be put on the spot so that they can see the idiocy of their faith .......... the danish cartoons and pictures like this one are an essential first step in reforming the mohammedans .............. let`s not back off and join the rank of apologists for this rabble ..........

Please refer to this article also. I think this is important too. Think sensibly.

You clowns ... these poor bastards are probably filling up a ditch for some purpose... not planting a woman in it ... look closely ... the woman has been superimposed. Also, the stoning manual says you need to bury people neck deep ... not waist deep!
And BTW .. what`re they doing preparing to stone a woman in the middle of nowhere?? I thought it was supposed to be in the city square after the `Jima` prayers !!!

So chowk pulled of that picture of a woman being put half buried in the ground, in preparation for her being stoned to death by ``muslims``??
chowk staff is obviously not concerned with chowk interact guidelines - that picture represents something factual. Being factual (however bitter the truth may be) does not violate chowk guidelines it is the gratuitous, spiteful communal and nationalistic and personal insults that violate interact guidelines, and which chowk staff has never bothered to properly deal with.
Lets have that picture put back - on the front page!! Truth, however bitter, is not unIslamic.

.............. well done ! ............
What`s wrong with you? The second picture is obviously doctored. Look at the aspect ratio which is all haywire.

Yes you are right - Hindoos have the same defensiveness reflex that blinds them to the cannibals and monsters amongst them. But there was a poll saying that 40% of British Muslims want sharia law to be introduced in British cities where they form a majority - so I think there is something else mixed in there with it.

[...probably because a substantial number of Muslims agree tacitly with that kind of punishment being meted out to women...]
I must disagree with that. Half the population is women (or perhaps that does not mean much - after all, we see in that very revealing picture that it is a WOMAN who is helping pile on the soil!) and in any case, most people are peaceful in their day-to-day lives.
There is no evidence that I am aware of which indicates that the majority of the population supports sharia laws (if that be the case, Manto mian should seriously consider packing his bags - for less ``greener`` pastures!)
I believe the real reason for not speaking out against the people who are carrying out such barbaric acts are because such villains are considered ``fellow`` Muslims - so there is a certain degree of solidarity with them - somewhat similar to the different reaction to the barbaric acts of Saddam versus the leberating acts of the USA that we see from the vast majority of the chowk crowds (and perhaps the editors) here - there is a level of misplaced ``identification`` with individuals who wear the same ``religion`` label, but not the acts that those same individuals carry out. People become defensive about their own ``linkage`` to the perpetrators - and they would rather not look at the problem. Couple that with the fact that people are too intimidated to begin with - many of the people have to live under the rule of such perpetrators. And sometimes, it is much easier to blame the victims, and sometimes it is easier to lash out by accusing others of having their own deficiencies.
Weaknesses - all of them, and reactions that are fully designed to cover such weaknesses - and invariably fail to!
Such defensive reflexes are probably not unique to Muslims - however. In my opinion, many Hindus reacted in similar ways to the post-Godhra riots - the post-Indira-assassination riots, and perhaps other events prior to those.

for mellow Hindus (except the one who imitate the Jihadis) their religion is personal --
for genetically exhibitionist Muslims their religion needs a soap box.....
Hindus will integrate in Europe like a charm -- if they don`t go to their homeland every weekend -- but the Muslims path will be full of thorns -- unless they burst away that self-created bubble of self-aggrandizement -- over their heads -- looking likw some alien beings from another planet --
if not -- Europe WILL BURST that bubble for them.....the cartoons are the beginnings of that process......
