HP writes <<< Cut this Indian civilization crap. I am happy with what I got. >>>
HP sahib is correct in his analysis. Understand the motivation behind the writer of this article. These ``born-again`` anti-Islamists that are popping up all over the place post 9/11 want to downplay Islam and its contribution to the human endeavour and its link to science and culture, and magnify beyond reason the pre-islamic era as one of enlightenment that was destroyed by the invading ``barbarians``. I wouldn`t be surprised if this person happens to be a follower of Ali Sina who does similar bs with Iranian history pre and post Islam. These people have a sinister bigoted agenda that has nothing to do with sincerity or history or the contributions of various peoples to human progress. This author who is crying crocodile tears over the non mentioned Hindu civilization would gladly do away with any and every mention of Islam and its contribution if given the opportunity.

An interesting report from today`s Dawn:
``Ancient stone axe linked to Moenjodaro
NEW DELHI, May 1: A 3,500-year-old stone axe engraved with an ancient northern Indian script found in the country’s south could establish a closer historical link between the distinctive regions, an archaeologist said Monday.
The axe was found by a school teacher, V. Shanmuganathan, in a mangrove forest in a village in the southern Tamil Nadu state in February, said T. S. Sridhar, commissioner of the state’s archaeology department.
The polished hand-held stone axe has four seals on it that are written in a script used around 1,500 BC in the Indus Valley, Sridhar told The Associated Press in a telephone interview from Madras, the capital of Tamil Nadu state.
Such seals are most commonly associated with the ancient cultures of Harappa and Mohenjodaro, ruined cities that both lay in Pakistan, thousands of miles to the north of Tamil Nadu.
The presence of the script on the axe is a strong indication that the Neolithic Aryan people of northern India penetrated much father south than previously believed.
“It shows that there has been a link between south of India and the rest of the country,” Sridhar said.
The find is “the greatest archaeological discovery (in) a century in Tamil Nadu state,” said Iravatham Mahadevan, an expert on the Indus script who is not connected with the find. He was quoted in The Hindu newspaper.—AP

Abdullah, these are powerful thoughts but i sincerely hope that your address/phone number etc. are carefully kept private.
I think from an orthodox islamic viewpoint your article is essentialy a statement of apostasy, and, er, well, what can I say beyond that.

Can I cash it at the Fremont Gurudwara during my next visit? :)

``Few indeed are the cultural and scientific products that are due to causes and traditions confined to one nation, and by definition none of them become part of the grand tradition of modern man, unless they appeal to minds that know nothing of nationalistic boundaries`` (C. Wright Mills)

#96, Jang,
Yes, the great Indic civilization of the Dravidians was the height of Paki civilizations. It was the bloody Aryans who brought Islam and beef curry and destroyed the flushing toilets and climate controlled TaTTis of Moenjodaro as they traveled east to the Gangetic plain to found the Mughal empire.
