Re: # 47

{{{So the US is not really all that BIG, even though it may perceive itself to be so.}}}]

The US sure is sliding....but if anyone thinks China dominated world is around the corner and US is going to be a pussycat....it is only a pipe dream. It is a globally interdependent system where ..............perhaps..........US won`t be able to wield that much power as it used to...that`s about it.

btw, how much FREEDUMB do Islamists have in the glorious Chinese Empire?

here...

http://www.eastturkestan.net/aboutthesite.html

{{{{{{{{Moreover, China`s assimilationist policies have prevented the majority Muslim population of East Turkestan from speaking their own language, living by their own culture,

from going on the hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca),

performing their daily ritual prayers and fasting, and even forbidden them to determine their family size.}}}}}}

Isn`t this interesting? Paki newas papers are full of sciht about glorious Chini-Paki

freindship..............YET PAKI wages Jihad against a country that taxes the Hindoos to

pay Hajj subsidies (modern version of jiziya tax)???

Revenge of the crows

Mrnay kay baad bhhee miri aankhaiN khulee raheeN
aadat cee pUrR gGaee thhee unhaiN intezar kee
Kaaga sub tUn khayyO, chuun chuun khayyo maas
duee nainaaN mUtt khayyO, jin sey piya milan kee aas.

Yeah they had been eating crow for quite a while & the crows were not amused. Hey, even the bald eagle, the king of the vultures was incensed. The white house chefs were running short of crows & had been known to grab a few tower ravens as well when Tony came calling.

In recent memory, the banquets were held ever since Castro provided them with the excuse but then one after another it was becoming a kind of staple. The credibility gap in Vietnam was widening & the crows were being fattened for the gala evening. Mohammed Al, threw his olympic medal in the Ohio river & thereafter crow-tripe became the national dish. ``What tripe!`` after that ceased to be a slur & entered the lexicon as a crow which was cooked rather stylishly.

The Canadian Prime Minister & his Amabssador were served crow-pate just 2 days ago

And then it was China & Korea and Iraq & Iran; and the meanings of WMD thenceforth meant Where`s Mouth Detergent.

So the supplication of the croweaters to the crows:

Mrnay kay baad bhhee miri aankhaiN khulee raheeN
aadat cee pUrR gGaee thhee unhaiN intezaar kee
Kaaga sub tUn khayyO, chuun chuun khayyo maas
duee nainaaN mUtt khayyO, jin sey piya milan kee aas.

tr:Even after my death, my eyes continued to stay fixed open
They had become so used to wait, and wait, and wait.
O Crow! feast on my whole body, if you may, have your choicest picks
But peck not on my two eyes! they`re still waiting for someone.

*Crow-Eaters: the chattering class; CNN & other spin-media; those who blurt out unthinkingly & by talking too much rue later; become a laughing stock of others.

Re: # 47

beta zeemax:

you give credit to the chinese ``coolies`` by providing cheap labor and keeping u.s. inflation down (enriching the walton family is just a undesirable result :) )

but when it comes to the desi ``coolies`` you are just too blunt.

isn`t their ``cheap`` labor keeping some u.s. companies afloat and/or providing them even more extra cash for re-investment/giving more cash to their share-holders etc or is it just because they want jagatram to send his kid to a private school?

tahmed # 33 writes ``It is indeed true that Bush and Blair are having to eat crow on things like the WMD. However, even the eating of crow requires a certain level of intellectual honesty and to learn from one`s mistakes. Most muslims - let alone the mullah omar`s of the muslim world - have not reached that stage yet``

Tahmed sahib, that is good to know that Bush and Blair come across as intellectually honest to you after murdering 150,000 innocent civilians over ``things like WMD``. I wonder if you woud extend the same accolades to your daughter`s rapist, after he admits to ``things like rape``. He would come across as ``intellectually honest``, wouldnt he?

I hereby suggest an annual award - ``Tahmed`s Award for Intellectual Honesty`` - given on a monthly basis to chowkies who admit to their mistakes.

While secularoons, liberaloons, and munafiquoons are feely-proudy of their exposed up-front & down-rear cleavages for the coalition of their masters ........

Teaching Johnny About Islam

Posted GMT 5-26-2006 18:32:4

In our brave new schools, Johnny can`t say the pledge, but he can recite the Quran. Yup, the same court that found the phrase ``under God`` unconstitutional now endorses Islamic catechism in public school.

In a recent federal decision that got surprisingly little press, even from conservative talk radio, California`s 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled it`s OK to put public-school kids through Muslim role-playing exercises, including:

Reciting aloud Muslim prayers that begin with ``In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful . . . .``

Memorizing the Muslim profession of faith: ``Allah is the only true God and Muhammad is his messenger.``

Chanting ``Praise be to Allah`` in response to teacher prompts.

Professing as ``true`` the Muslim belief that ``The Holy Quran is God`s word.``

Giving up candy and TV to demonstrate Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Designing prayer rugs, taking an Arabic name and essentially ``becoming a Muslim`` for two full weeks.

Parents of seventh-graders, who after 9-11 were taught the pro-Islamic lessons as part of California`s world history curriculum, sued under the First Amendment ban on religious establishment. They argued, reasonably, that the government was promoting Islam.

But a federal judge appointed by President Clinton told them in so many words to get over it, that the state was merely teaching kids about another ``culture.``

So the parents appealed. Unfortunately, the most left-wing court in the land got their case. The 9th Circuit, which previously ruled in favor of an atheist who filed suit against the words ``under God`` in the Pledge of Allegiance, upheld the lower court ruling.

The decision is a major victory for the multiculturalists and Islamic apologists in California and across the country who`ve never met a culture or religion they didn`t like -- with the exception of Western civilization and Christianity. They are legally in the clear to indoctrinate kids into the ``peaceful`` and ``tolerant`` religion of Islam, while continuing to denigrate Judeo-Christian values.

In the California course on world religions, Christianity is not presented equally. It`s covered in just two days and doesn`t involve kids in any role-playing activities. But kids do get a good dose of skepticism about the Christian faith, including a biting history of its persecution of other peoples. In contrast, Islam gets a pass from critical review. Even jihad is presented as an ``internal personal struggle to do one`s best to resist temptation,`` and not holy war.

The ed consultant`s name is Susan L. Douglass. No, she`s not a Christian scholar. She`s a devout Muslim activist on the Saudi government payroll, according to an investigation by Paul Sperry, author of ``Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington.`` He found that for years Douglass taught social studies at the Islamic Saudi Academy just outside Washington, D.C. Her husband still teaches there.

So what? By infiltrating our public school system, the Saudis hope to make Islam more widely accepted while converting impressionable American youth to their radical cause. Recall that John Walker Lindh, the ``American Taliban,`` was a product of the California school system. What`s next, field trips to Mecca?

This case is critical not just to our culture but our national security. It should be brought before the Supreme Court, which has outlawed prayer in school. Let`s see what it says about practicing Islam in class. It will be a good test for the bench`s two new conservative justices.

atif chawwal: I realize it is impossible for you to write a post without using the abusive language you grew up hearing in your household. I also realize it is easy for anyone to write filth on chowk. My invitation to repeat these words to my face sometime still remains open to you. I will reserve my response till that time.

[The U.S. engine grew in power not just by consuming, but by innovating on the producing side as well.]

There are a FEW other things that US has been doing a little different from Pakistan, too!

USAPakistan
Protects its women and minorities.Rapes and kills its women and minorities.
Maintains an army to protect the world and itself.Maintains an army to rape and loot its citizens.
Welcomes and keeps the immigrants and values their work ethic.Keeps the Biharis out.
Beats up on the Jihadis.Keeps the Jihadis around as reserve.
Honors its soldiers.Fails to acknowledge its dead soldiers.
Gives aid, including food - to the world.Gives second jobs to army brass and their chamchas.
Listens and does the bidding of its citizens.Listens and does the bidding of anybody but its citizens.
Respects the right of all religions.Respects no religion but Islam.

..... a piece of friendly advice to the blathering economists, impotent socialists, frustrated islamists, should-be-dead-by-now communists, people suffering from an acute sense of inadequacy, people suffering from organ envy, underpaid and overworked code coolies from the third world and other assorted people suffering from various illnesses ..........

.......... stop waiting for america to self-destruct !........ instead, go out and do something to get a piece of the pie, baklava, idlee, chop-suey, or whatever it is that you guys eat ........... look, if the rest of the world is finally crawling out of their caves, mud huts, teepees, igloos, yurts, gers and climbing down from the trees, it is great - more power to them .......... but just because the rest of the world is thrilled at getting off the railroad tracks and is discovering indoor toilets, does not mean that you will see americans squatting on park avenue any time soon ............ and no, that guy at park and 37th who has been peeing in his pants for the last ten years does not count ! ..... i have seen him at starbucks

......... stop of praying to al-lah five times a day and asking him to destroy aamreeka, israel and other enemies of islam - it is not working !......... so stop it !

......... i ain`t much of an econpmist but here is my simple rule: the pie will always get bigger and bigger and bigger and only fools who want to crawl back into their caves and spider holes will go hungry ............

Zeemax is only partially right.

USA is becoming dependent upon both China and India - China for manufactured goods and India for software development. All large and madcap companies are looking, and if possible, shifting software development, network management and now increasingly BPO work to India. Lehman is starting to move Fixed income analytics work also to India.

One does not have to be a genius to figure out which one will be high value dependency – a sophisticated software development dependency or Nike/Umbrella/Toy manufacturing capability.

Pardesi: What you are forgetting is technological change - the manufacturing process is undergoing automation (through robotics, but far more importantly through potentials created by nanotechnology) and so are the service industries. So, the offshoring wave in its current form is also an intermediate phenomenon. No one can predict what kind of a world is emerging (just as no one in the 1960`s could predict the opening up of developed countries to massive waves of immigration from the third world).

But one thing is for sure - the confident predictions of the imminent demise of the US that one reads on chowk say nothing about the US and a lot about the dream world in which these prophets of doom live in.

.... and here is why america will just not go away:

............... a couple of years ago a lot of people had predicted the demise of apple ....... in 2005, the company generated revenue of $14 billion and a net profit of $1.5billion - reflecting an annual growth of 68 percent and 384 percent ................

.......... and this despite the fact that on 9/11 2001 apple`s enemies, driven mad by jealousy, flew planes into the wtc and killed themselves ........ today their ``business`` leaders are living in a cave while steve jobs is standing on the top of the shining hill ........ do you ever stop to wonder what makes steve tick ? .... and larry page and sergey bin, the men who gave us the ability to google, are not just a pair of code coolies .............

.... and no, the i-pod is not just another mp3 player !

Re: # 58

pardesi:

i was in a conversation with my chinese colleague. We were discussing about chinas economy. he mentioned that so far things are fine but just by producing cheaper goods china is not going to sustain itself for a long time. china will have to add more value to its product. which i am sure they will.
in pharma sector indian companies are moving up from producing cheaper generics to making forays into innovative drugs. these are just baby steps compared to giants like pfizer but somewhere a start has to be made. chinese are still banking on cheaper generics or bulk drugs.

Re: # 60

tahmed:
computer and IT as a new industry definitely created more jobs and wealth in the u.s. who would have thought about it in 60`s?

its very true that technology will keep on changing /getting better and the ones to take advantage of it will always be the winner, the rest will be just whinners!

hence investing in human resource is the best a society can do for its future.

china has uplifted millions by selling its wares in u.s., its good if india can also do the same. but these are not the end of the story. its just the beginning.

from quantity you have to move to quality.
