Zafar,
good to hear from some one in kashmir. Here we have pakistanis on chowl talking about the military occupation of kashmir, freedom movement etc etc. But the funny part is that there is no pak based organisation of any significance that has ``freedom`` as the motive, it is always lasher e toiba, hizbul mujahiodeen atc whciha re fundamental religious jihadis trying to create an isalmix state. There have been attachks on dress, recently on beauty parlours which are all classic jihadi actions.
Do you think that the educated of pakistan like the ones on chowk are the other face of the jihadis. These educated try to legitimise the jihadis through a facade of freedom talk.
It is almost comical that the chowk pakistanis do not support a ``kashmir liberation organisation`, there is a lot in a name, while they support the actions of jihadis by portraying them as freedom moves in the western sense of the word.
May be a real significant action the press could take is to call the jihadi organisations, as freedom fighters, name the hizbul mujahidden as ``kashmir liberator``, call the laskers as `` kasmir saviosrs``. That will be the end of those twp organisations.
Without the winds of jihad from pakistan, kasmir will turn as placid as waters of Daal lake in winter .
Your examples of journalistic contribution to peace is pathetic, making a mole hill out of a sand grain. Journalism has hit the lowest in self promotion.

Respected Sir
The debate in the newspapers it appears is being managed by very naive hands. The reports in print and electronic media lack the depth and analysis required to comment on the issue.
Lack of the knowledge of the area and history is apparent. Except Pravin Swami, few appear to be experts.
I Quote ``Writer, Historian and essayist Ramchandra Guha feels that the duties of a newspaper are to inform, educate, and entertain. Bur for large sections of the English-language media, these three duties had been superseded by or subordinated to a fourth — the duty to titillate``

Kashmir Times and Daily Excelsior are two opposites.
KT is reasonable while the DE caters more towards
India`s hard line.
When and if DE softens its stance, it will be
an indication that a settlement is on the horizon.
At the moment, India and Pakistan are stuck
on Siachen & Sir Creek.
A Kashmir settlement appears to be a distant dream.
