Pakistani men are bastards. Thanks for reminding us, Kiran. Some are less bastardly than others. I know at least one who clips baby toenails.

Ohhh , this exposition is so excruciating..............

kiran u r controverting the nature which is impossible. u have mentioned about ur relation wid ur hubby. It doent mean that all men wil be of the same nitty-gritty.
U wanna that there shud b reciprocation of the responsibilites b/w a man & a woman.
A real story of a couple who decided to do the same.
blive me both were disconsolated.
The only problem wid u.... unfortunatly ur life after ur marriage is not smooth.
There are ups n downs in life, it doesn`t mean that u shud narrate ur story like this.

So sad to hear u, kiran!
try 2 njoy ur life.
ma kool wishes wid u.

Kiran Shah,
You have summed up marriage life in a befitting manner. But the points you have mentioned may terrified unmarried women.
So let me encourage them , it varies from individual to individual. My husband is very caring especially at the time of delivery and also in earlier months. His ego never hurt by changing diaper, sometimes he gives bath to the baby, cut her nails several times he gave me opportunity to take rest and took care of the baby. However some of your points are true,
“38. Your family will be insulted at some point or the other, take it with the heartbreak it deserves”
Here you are right, complaint like this is often heard.
“Going to the bathroom for a quick pee is possible, because half of it is out anyway, but a shower is too self-indulgent a process after the baby is born.
23. You must wait to spend more than 15 minutes in the bathroom until the baby is big enough to drag you in herself and insist on a co-shower.
24. You will traumatize your baby if you forgot to use the work toilet for your elongated constipation sessions.
Very true. I enjoyed your article .
With regards,
n

``Undoubtedly, hadn’t it been for his mother, we’d most likely be divorced now. She played my my midwife, my emotional-well-filler, a mom to my daughter, our maid, in addition to being my cook, all in all, she has done more for me than my mom ever did- she sacrificed her whole career, a brilliant one that is, for me, to bring up my kids, to make up for my family’s inadequacy``
Now why do I feel you married the wrong person in the family? But thanks for writing this, I feel like a superman now.

Agree with #6.

However, Its probably all true for your case but don`t you think its a bit of an over-generalization.

P.S. I am sure you`r husband will have an equally amazing story to tell about you. Its just about the different frames we look through. This does NOT mean in anyway that you are wrong!

aww...i absolutely loved your article. My husband and i are that stage when i`m ready for a baby and he isn`t. I`ll definitely keep all this in mind when we decide to go ahead. However you`re lucky to have such a supportive mom in law...mine`s stuck in pakistan.
and yes...forgetting the pill can cause much distress!

The supermen & superwomen of Pakistan ( and perhaps other westoxicted countries as well) are the maids & servants--the maasi & naukers, the sweepress & sweeper, the tiller & field-worker and the laborer, the cook & the driver.

Try to learn a wee bit from them rather than wasting time reading glossy western trash & getting confused , depressed & psychotic.

90% of women in so called ``backward `` ``third-world`` countries WORK, outside & inside the house. Have always done so throughout centuries. ``Work`` is not a westoxicated columbus-like discovery of Indians. [The western bastards even call their blunders as ``knowledge`` & still call them Indians--& the enslaved Real Indians hardly squeak to be so mistaken & settle for ``east`` & ``west`` Indian dogtag]

The psychotics who think that ``working`` means an opportunity to look farangi-like, have telescopes set westward & wasting valuable national time & resources mistaking fashion & accent for being ``educated & maadren``.

And who gave you the right to call yourself super this & that. You are zero zilch nada.

Look walk talk DESI & act DESI..you are not western you are not goraa you are a DESI .
Behave like one.

Perhaps she felt she had a hand in raising the moron I was stuck with and compensates for it.

Great thing to say about a mother-out-law ... :)

Cool article ... bit harsh on the hubby though ...

Re: # 12

echo, what is bothering you now ????............ that was totally unwarranted ..... this is a pretty good description of a modern desi woman`s life who does not have the maasi and naukar or a sweepress and driver, but has a husband who is still ........ well, a desi ...........

shame on you for spouting off for no reason at all ........keep it up and you will never get any ............ pudding !

..... author, great job !
