I once questioned a male friend as to the requirements/qualities in a girl he would like to get married to? I got the following answer,
``she should wear hijab. however, more importantly i would like to confirm that she has not been caught on someone`s cell phone having sex.``
It seems that even though he was clear about the fact that he wanted to get married to a hijab-wearing girl, that is not sufficient as he wants to somehow ensure her chastity! This speaks volumes about the double standards we have, even the so-called hijab-wearing `good girls` are not necessarily `good`. In short, just like growing a beard did not ensure peity for men, wearing a hijab does not ensure chastity or no skeletons for girls/women.

Re: # 1
Okay I agree HIJAB doesn`t diminish materialistic AND hormonalistic desires.
But
If a girl is in hijab or wearing full clothes atleast it would not shake the harmonalstic desires of the viewers.

i believe there are three kinds of marriages
1) `love marriage` or what most of us consider regular marriage
2) `forced marriage` where parents/elders of the female/male decide without consent of the bride/groom who they will marry
3) `lovely arranged marriage` where parents/elders suggest possible suitors for the bride/groom, they meet each other on several occasions, decide if they are a match for each other, and if things go well, decide to marry each other.
#3 is one of the more prevailant systems of marriages at least in the `educated` class.
i`ve already lost one true love of my life, and i doubt im gonna find #1 again, so id take #3 option!

lolz!!!!! you grabbed the words out of my mouth nasah.I would have patted you more If this article didn`t carry the religious tone.Islam is a modern progressive religion which caters to every aspect of human nature (e.g four marriages, spouse compatibility: in whatever way you take it, materially or mentally). But some people have reduced Islam only to rituals,Hijab and refraining from radio, tv etc.The real pardah, hijab, naqab is inside a person`s head.
Islam has never restricted the role of women in any way and history is witness to that.
And talking of dreaming, let them dream for these fuel the passion for life and living. If Shah Rukh Khan doesn`t mind it then why should i or somebody else.
What the hell is ``arranged marriage``, sounds ridiculous.

``Then again, an actuality not always recognized is that growing a beard or donning hijab/niqab does not necessarily increase piety nor diminish materialistic desires.``(Shujaat Wasty)
well said Shujat miaN -- you need only to add one or two more words: ......``nor diminish materialistic AND hormonalistic desires.
as for you if you have an iota of manly Canadian shujaat left in you you won`t allow your AmmaN and Abba ``to pick your bride for you``.....btw don`t touch a religious Muslima with a ten foot pole -- she will make your life hell prematurely on earth in old age -- way before you may be destined for the fun place in the after life......anyway.
