Re: # 8

``I often wonder if a nation that`s semi prosperous and peopled by non-whites would ever be left alone to mind it`s own business...(Soysauce)

you can say that again -- soy -- people are getting a little tired of seeing Ugly American butt in every South American plate --

if this is the way the events are rolling in the neighborhood -- what the Leftist ideologue Che Guvera could not do for South America -- despite his good intentions -- Bush the Oily Lootera is doing for the rising number of leftist regimes -- despite his bad intentions.....

if Mexico falls -- Bush`s goose is cooked in Latin America...

It`s not just oil. Central America and South America are unfortunate to be situated next to a hegemon.
I often wonder if a nation that`s semi prosperous and peopled by non-whites would ever be left alone to mind it`s own business and the answer I keep getting is a resounding no.

Ama Daudpota sahib, Amrikkan loag hegemonic toe na kabhie the, na hain, aur nahin kabhie honge! Waise hum loag consumerism ke utne mureed nahin hain – jitney ek aur cheej ke! Waise to duniya mein sabhi jante hain ki woh kya cheej hai – lekin yahan kafee janana loag maujud hain – iss liye kabhie aur sahi! And by the way, perhaps the problem was the guy – that great grand daddy of all flashers – never married – otherwise he would be too busy shopping for groceries to worry about what floats! Married folks don’t invent war machine – we are too busy constantly fighting the war of survival!

The so-called glut of information is quite scientifically being balanced with glut of entertainment. So if one activates the mind the other passifies it. Imagine taking sleeping pills with black coffee; the result is nothing but a dazzling haze and absolute comrpromise of menatl faculties. Now a days I am seriously thinking about disconnecting my cable and limiting the number of newspapers to 1/2 a day.

This is a darn mind game, which is so blatantly being palyed upon people.

``I am tired of America bashers. They send me the latest by Robert Fisk, John Pilger, Noam Chomsky, et al, by the email box-full.``

Don`t -- nobody is bashing America -- they are bashing ONLY George Bush -- remember George Bush and America are NOT one and the same ....

Bush is an aberration -- America is not -- Bush is a War criminal -- America is NOT -- Bush is a Lawless Mongoloid -- America is not -- Bush is temporary -- America is forever......

the article concludes thus: ``That`s a lesson that our leaders, military and civilian, as well as the people need to learn. It is such distilled truth that our great writers need to get across to us so that it can be truly internalised instead of the noise that so often fills our media. ``

er... HOW?

Unless you can go some distance answering this question, this article was of even less value than those of Fisk, Chomsky and Pilger, who, contrary to your claim, do, in their books if not their articles/columns, go into the `whys` of Imperialism-- even beyond the more obvious reasons of economic `imperative`.
