akber, I went there before bugti`s death in May 2006.

The journey was very peaceful, and I did not see any violence on the road, or anywhere else, except for that bomb explosion outside the University. The locals told me that Khuzdar was under Sardar Akhtar Mengal`s control, and that he did the occasional kidnapping and killing of the officers.

The buses ply on the Karachi-Quetta route day and night. There are places where the bus stops to refuel, and people wander off to stretch their legs a bit. There were a lot of women in my bus, and I don`t think they felt any sort of tension. Things might have changed a lot after bugti`s death.

Thanks bjkumar. Yes, there are quite a lot of details up there, and I have omitted some other details too. But I feel that they contribute a lot to the story, without which it would`ve been quite dry.. very much like the plains of Balochistan.

I`m not sure if this is the same road, but it looks very familiar. There are a lot of milestones and signs like these on the road, and some of the old ones even gave wrong information at certain places!

it helped me recall my visit to vinder to inspect some spinning machines in the only left spinning mill in tht area.

it also helped recall the manogmity of dry rocky mountains on your way and the sand storms .. and i cant forgot the ``Namkeen Gosht`` they served us for lunch from the nearest makeshift resturant.

what i really wonder is when exactly did you took this journey?

i mean is it before bugtti`s death or afterwards, and wat is the general sentiment on road specialy in bus, as we are hearing scary stories of ppl appearing to be punjabi or related army being taken out of bus and killed on the way to quetta.

An interesting account – it is but rather long-winded and full of rather trivial details! I think you should have kept the last 4-6 paragrahs and discarded the rest.

This must be one of the roads u passed by?
