Re: # 512 Tahmed
Agreed, agreed, agreed with the first part that we have to go a long long way before we can stand on an even pedestal with the civilized nations of the world. But it can`t be done in a jiffy. We are looking back at centuries, nay, millennia. And never did I say that we have achieved Nirvana or whatever.
Now for the second part - I think its other way round - you find it difficult to see my point. But anyways. And this caste system - Indian or Hindoo caste system. Let`s not go into its history. It`s bad today. But is it only limited to Hindoos todays. Those who converted themselves to Christianity or Islam to escape this caste system - are they now free from this system? What do you think?

#510 I did not refer to the constitution as a silly piece of paper. and i have said innumerable times on chowk that india is ahead in this regard than pakistan. but that does not mean that india has achieved nirvana in matters of civilization. or even anything close to lawful behavior to the extent practiced by police in the west (who do slip up, but who nevertheless operate at a much higher standard than anything in india or pakistan).
the fact that you, an educated person from india, are having so much difficulty understanding why execution style killing by police is wrong in this discussion proves my point. in many matters (given the lack of religious sanction to certain ugly practices like the caste system) pakistan is in fact ahead of india.

Yes, and when you make a mistake in identifying that ``clear and imminent danger``. You think policemen are Gods? That they can`t make mistakes?

Re: # 506 Tahmed
And about that silly discussion...since you mentioned it first. It`s not easy to erase the centuries old prejudices in 60 or 70 or even 100 years. But a correct beginning has to be made first. And that correct beginning is a Constitution that says, at least on paper, that you are all born equal. The equality, real equality on ground, will not come today, nor tomorrow. But when you don`t have this equality even on a silly piece of PAPER, then probably you are looking into a tunnel with incoming train`s lights on other side.

#507 There are plenty of individuals in that policeman`s shoes around the world. In no civilized county is such execution style killing that you condone considered acceptable. The only form of violence acceptable is self-defence from clear and imminent danger with the burden being on the police to demonstrate that was indeed the case. There is no room for ``gray areas`` when it comes to taking someone`s life.

Ahmed saheb, you make light of that policeman`s duty and the pressure under which he works. When you are in their shoes, then you only you will know.
I am not saying that it is right, in most cases it is wrong, but the world is not always in sharp black & white. Leave some space for shades of grey. That`s all.

#501 What you are saying is that it is OK for that policeman in your example to have been the lawmaker, the judge and the appellate court as well.
The fact that you provide this example illustrates the point I made - even an educated individual like you is unaware of this fundamental requirement of a civilized society.

[.......None of the other Pask bashers had the courtesy to do so. Believe me I did not quote the incident for India bashing, but only to impress upon readers that the Mukhtaran incident pales in comparison, with which you guys keep bashing Pak over the head. My exchange with Subhash Joshi should be sufficient evidence, and that I used the eff word only because of his constant laughing and jeering and avoiding the issue. ]
LOLZ....OK we got your point. Hearing over. Now stop whining about my refusal to play your game. Good boy.....

So when policemen shoot an innocent student on mere suspician of being a terrorist, do you think it`s a civilized society or not?
It`s easy to sit in armchair and philosophize, Guruji.

[........blasmphemy is crime against Allah and His Beloved Prophets (peach be upon all of them). ]
OK I won`t needle you again for a silly typo.
[....As such, if one is confessed and/or convicted of blasphemy on earth, he/she must be sent `up` for the due process to start :-)~~ ]
Gitmo isn`t so much up. It`s a bit westward or eastward depending upon which hole they smoked you out from.
[.......there is going to be a global Caliphate very soon....]
In the year 2529, when everyone else will be on Mars. Yes, Pakis will will remain on earth, running mega poultry farms and growing rice. And you can say PAK = Paindoos` Agricultural Khalifat
[......with the help of the Americans.]
Yes. Good dog. Does that collar hurt? No? Yes? No? Now go fetch another. Good dog.
[.....The modern technology viz Internet and amrikan home dept is pretty up to date with that info, especially since the enactment of PATRIOT ACTs. ]
Not difficult, especially when most of you Pakis are permanent residents at Gitmo. Do you know they are issuing another edition of Paki fingerprints directory. You guys are going places!

#496-7: The role of the police in society - now that is a real issue (as opposed to a mullah issue or a babu issue of the kind earlier ``discussed`` on this board)!!
Thus: when police beats up a suspect, that in a civilized society is considered lawlessness. But in the subcontinent (India as well as Pakistan) it is considered acceptable behavior from all indications.
