What is new?
Nothing new in this story – every single person who belongs to the immigrant family in Karachi, and lives in middle class neighborhoods, and have studied in government school, colleges and universities would have similar stories.

Sunni are killing Shia, and vice versa, or one ethnic group is killing another ethnic or religious group is nothing new in the societies such as Pakistan. I guess, you do not watch news, every day Shia and Sunni killing each other in Iraq.

Super Hero of Islam – Ali – One, who had many wives – approximately 9, with dozens of concubines, never had a job or business, belongs to Hashimi sub tribe of Qureash – famous for living on the money people shower on deities residing in Kaba. He was never able to match what others had done for Islam being it Osman, Abu Bakar, Omar, Khalid, or Omayias, and many more. He was responsible for killing Osman; moving the capital from Medina to Kufa, and disrespecting Mohammad wife Ayesha in the battle field.

Re: # 9
You are a funny man delhiwala . Honestly, I did smile at your cheekiness but I just wish you would have displayed your talents in the right forum. I wouldn`t consider this to be the most appropriate place ..but it is a free world!!
As far as your grandfather`s removal from his Haveli, it is a sad thing. I don`t see a point in discussing who did what, it doesn`t lead us anywhere. I respect the sikh people and I have very good sikh freinds. Their accounts of migratition are not pleasent as well. Khuswant Singh has written some interesting stories about the whole ordeal. look `em up if you can. You might be able to relate more with them.

P.S Thank you pointing out the typo.
regards

Re: # 7okee-dokee,

Where in Agra did your Grand Father lived before Partition?

Likewise, my grand father was removed from his Haveli in Quetta by your Rajaakdaar.

there is one typo, line number 8, you have ``Ffirst `` instead of First.

Thank you all for your comments.

Re: #1 Thank you faridi. I appreciate your comments. I do agree that there may have been too many flashes. Actually, I did edit it. The first cut was longer and with many more flashes:-)

Re: #2, #3 , #4, krbhatti, ahmedmadani, Knell420 . Sincerely appreciate your positive feedback. This story is 75% fact and 25% fiction.

I have learnt a lot of some of the writers on chowk like Shandana Minhas, Urstruly, Godot and Adam Khan

Re: ##5 by tolkinin : Thank you for your comments.

Re: #6 by delhiwala : You totally missed the boat !

If I were a top student every time, I guess it wouldn’t have been such a fond memory. Secondly, I never said there was any violence in Agra but flying out from Agra was not an option. To travel from Agra to Lahore, you probably had to cross other parts of India. Common sense ..eh? Thirdly, one of my fondest memory is of the times nobody really cared who was shia and who was sunni. I don’t believe in any discrimination based on race or religion. I dream of a world without any such divisions. That is what I intended to convey.

It is it fiction or fact?

Sounds like you anted us to believe that you were always first in your class and then you end up in Canada?????

There were no riots in Agra in 1947, other parts of India, yes very terrible but Not in Agra.

Nice story though, good for Bollywood production.

How do we know that you are not a Hindu trying to create this rift among Shia-Sunni?

I never heard of Sunnis openly travelling in Trains looking for Shias.....

A soul searching for HOME like a bird for a nest

The Partition of India
``A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.`` -

Excellent article! Simple and without any gimmicks (something which quite a few writers on Chowk are prone to use) but effectively gets the writers emotions across! Great job, made me reminisce about my past!

``He has 27 murder cases om him and 3 are bogus`` It was so calm and nonchalant innocent complait by SES leader`s follower,I could not control laugh and tears came to my eyes.
That is what I call drama and best writing.
(I hope it is fiction)
Enjoyed your writing, keep on, good luck.

Well written article. It lacks coherence though and too many flashes. I am dazzled! Good effort overall.
