No kidding!! Not just the Congress, but when I see some of the senior managers in US companies, its painful to see how dim witted a lot of them are. So much for being power elites!! Most of them have a hard time grasping anything that is slightly above average in complexity. If you come from IIT or IIM where you are dealing with really sharp, focused people, it becomes painful to deal with the mediocrity. This is not to say that there arent any sharp people around, but they are rare. Most of them have a hard time staying employed, let alone control the fortunes of billions of people!!

Its the same dumbness that you see among the policy makers on the Iraq war. Sometimes when the so called pundits talk on CNN or Foxnews, you feel like throwing a chappal at the TV. If corporations then most large ones are publicly held, Mutual funds and Hedge funds hold most of the equity..they themselves are answerable to most shareholders like pension funds who are vested by workers in America. Now that 80% of americans are in the stock market directly or indrectly...what is the gripe?

Masadi, your statement about ``peons`` reveals that you are clueless about how Indian economy is aggressively interacting with the US and the rest of the world. Independence from US influence doesnt mean we cannot take their best practices in economy and apply it with suitable modifications to India. Please educate yourself before saying foolish things on a public forum. India is increasingly moving up the value chain with R&D work, advanced manufacturing and what not. Indian companies are buying international companies - just look at Mittal and Tatas. We are doing all this while maintaining our self-respect and honor.

Just because we do business with the US doesnt mean we cannot cozy up to Russia, China Iran or even Pakistan. We do what works for us, not what someone else tries to force us to do. In fact, we often show the finger to US elites or any other third party - something that Pak should learn from us. And you know what, people respect us for that. US knows that it can only push around India that much, while they know that the fools in Islamabad will lick their boots all the time. It must be the congenital slavish fascination for gori chamri that the Pakis have. Masadi, you too have that slavish mindset, except that you tremble in fear of the goras while people like hamidm and HP worship them. We Indians just treat them as normal human beings and then take their money. :-) We neither worship them nor do we run away scared.

As far as Indian elites are concerned, I am cursing the socialist idiots who have slowed down and are still slowing down India`s progress. Its the fools in Communist Party who are still dreaming of Lenin and Marx, as they try to halt economic growth. Their brothers in China and Russia have changed their tunes but they are still living in Bolshevik times. If not for them, India`s infrastructure would be rapidly improving and more poor people would be able to move into the middle class with greater expansion of opportunities.
