Re: # 64
Harish mian has stated several times that he is in it to ``shut yasser up``. Given the personalised nature of his comments, I`d say he ends up baiting himself...
I don`t care if Gandhi is a hero or not. I am simply responding to BJKumar`s assertion about Gandhi being some sort of a model.

#63 like i suggested (and it is merely a friendly suggestion), there are more relevant things going on in pakistan than the issue of gandhi`s place in history etc. the question of the Rule of Law vs. the Rule of the Generals. the question of religious extremists and ex-generals like hamid gul trying to hijack this movement for law and order, which i think is extremely dangerous because it will then replace one military rule not with law and order but with military-mullah rule.

ylh: another question: where are the students, btw? in 1966, ayub khan was told to leave by the generals only when it became clear that the democracy movement had legs as the students came out day after day after day until the military refused to shoot any more of their fellow citizens.

The graph was inserted to prove that Gandhi`s vision and methods are proving themselves today. The result is that India is the world`s 6th most influential country! Ciao

i hope justice bhagwandas gets a health-checkup and start on baby-aspirins..you have to take care against blood-clots in paki environment.

ylh: i have to go now. but will be back later to see if you have any thoughts on these questions in #66/67. May God protect Pakistan and give Musharaff the wisdom to work out a face-saving means with the lawyers to have proper elections in 2008 and an end to this military rule.

#69 Thank God for the ``paki environment``. I have seen the ``indian environment`` from indian posters on chowk - and am forever grateful to Jinnah for sparing us from that.

66,
And like I said ... (in an equally friendly tone)... I don`t wish to discuss Gandhi. But if BJKumar wants to impose the racist casteist Hindu fascist bigot Gandhi as some sort of a model ... I have the right to dissect his place in history, to stop the constitutional movement in Pakistan being hijacked by rabble rousers like Jamat-e-Islami leadership who emulate Gandhi in every possible way.
67,
Personally I am glad students are not coming in. Students coming in would be dangerous for all of us.
The idea is to make judiciary independent and take things from there.... through elections etc. Had the movement in 1968 ended up with Ayub Khan holding free and fair elections or passing on the power to the constitutional successor under his constitution ... Pakistan would have been spared a lot of heartbreak.
The game plan is to make judiciary strong and hence the election commission strong and throw up a strong independent minded parliament forcing Musharraf to resign constitutionally. A sudden end to military rule is as dangerous as its inception.

Pooh Pooh research,
If despite having more than 1/6th of the world`s population and despite being the second most populous nation on the planet, India is only the 6th influential country... you should be ashamed of yourself.
As usual... another pathetic argument but then one cannot expect better from you.

#66 you have the right of course to ``dissect`` anyone`s place in history. you also have the right to dissect things more relevant to Pakistan`s future. what i am saying is - it would be nice to see you using your time on the latter rather than the former. that would make your posts much more interesting to many more people on chowk. that is my request as a chowk poster. that is all.

Re: # 73 Manto
But, don`t you appreciate the fact that Gandhi should get all the credit for India`s 6th placement today (from zero in 1947)? Not bad for someone dead for 60 years!

Well then I promise if he whose name cannot be mentioned is not mentioned again by his most fervent supporters, I will refrain from dissecting he whose name cannot be mentioned.

Dear Pooh Pooh Research,
In my view your emergence from 0 to 6 is the result of a below par family planning programme in India. Next you may ask me to appreciate the vision of contraceptive manufacturers in India who have deliberately not implemented quality control ?

ylh #76 by saying this, you are making your own writings on chowk dependent on what someone else writes. instead of letting others set the agenda, why dont you set your own agenda on what you will write and ignore the others.
#79 Posted by tahmed32 on March 21, 2007 9:17:50 am
ylh: anyway, cheers and signing off for now. hope to see more on the really interesting things from you - i.e. on what is happening in Pakistan.
