But its like flogging a dead horse. He already made a similar point in his earlier post, and everybody else is already saying the same thing on TV, Radio and Newspapers so just to use the `facade` (it does not qualify as a `device`) of a talk show nfp drives home the same point which is being discussed on every other forum.

So a dead horse (inzi, tableeghi) and interview device (flogging) which he also used in his earlier post does not point towards creativity or fresh perspective. Its like just another vent for letting his air out.

You put Mr Paracha`s incredibly creative piece into the category of Mush vs. Mullah. Historically, every Muslim writer has been critical of the Mullah. It is part and parcel of the ethos of being Muslim and liberal. Mush is an accident that has been part of whatever you and I call our culture for hundreds of years. This left liberal, sufi, poet, critical thinker side of Islam had been repressed for a long long time with disastrous consequences for the Muslim world. Please understand!, these liberals are as necessary for your culture to survive as the book around which your morality is hedged. By framing every crisis as US vs. Pakistan, or Mush. vs. Mullah, you discredit your own history.

The Pakistan team is relying far too much on emotion, far too little on rationality--that`s the simple message of NFP`s article. We can get all insecure or we can welcome a little healthy criticism. Faith without rationality does not lead to success.

Prices for goods in Pakistan are high not because of Musharaf but because of the looting that took place in thee so-called democracy where our leaders ooted the wealth took loans to pay to keep the prices down. You talk about PIA, KESC and other departments. I guess they were working wonderfully during the democracy. They were not. Actually the only reason you think they were working was because you did not hear about that in the media. zeemax, I think you`ve been away from Pakistan for quite a while. At the moment Paracha is hosting at least two shows on AAJ TV (with Fasi Zaka), and Geo TV and writing for various English publications. Actually he seems to be quite a part of this so-called media revolution, really.

Ireland beat Bangladesh, and Bangladesh defeated South Africa therefore South Africa was the worst team of this tournament, according to your logic.

There are only 8 test playing nations of some stature and Pakistan is ranked 5th in ODI ranking, that wud Pakistan in the lower quartile that is well below median value. Reason for this dispicable performance was too much praying and too little playing. Had the same players been properly motivated for worldcup event, they sud have beaten West Indies and Ireland, but lost to both. Some say Pakistan threw the WI match and Bob Woolmer had expressed his intention to pull the plug on their illegal activities.

Sham democracy, sham judiciary, sham freedom of expression. The country has been performing so poorly for so long because a democratic system has not been allowed to develop by the army which has ruled the state for more years than either Mullah or politicians. And these talibans, kargil misadventures or others of 1965, 1971 etc were all creation of the army. Had it not been his desperation to gain legitimacy for his rule, Mush would have continued to support the very same terrorists.

But then this article is not about Mush. Its about cricket. You did not ask why Dr. Nasim is chairman of cricket board. His only qualification is that he described Musharraf as `Pariah`. Earlier we had Tauqir Zia whose only accomplishment was gifting valuable national stadium land to Army to build their housing society where they will auction off property in crores.

Sooner or later Musharraf will have to go. Name one institution that is in a better shape since Mush came from KESC, WAPDA, PIA etc. Its only his presence thats keeping the country afloat and it will fall to new depths once he leaves which is something to worry about.
