Wonderful. Braces cannot improve a smile. All they can do is aesthetically align your teeth to your jaw so that the lower half of your face is no longer distracting to people who look at you.
Alas for the superficiality of our lives that we need dentists. And also a lament for the industry of lies--advertising.

One of my mom`s friends, a teacher at my school, once remarked that I had the most genuine smile she had ever seen. This was almost 20 years ago and I don`t believe I`ve been complimented better since. So I know exactly what you mean :)))

Very nice, aesthetically appealing. My son will not like this article very much, we had him fitted with braces very recently, poor kid.

Lovely article.
There are so many programmes offering to make somone look more attractive that people are made to feel ugly being themselves. There are a couple of programmes in the UK (I don`t know what is being shown elsewhere) that help somone look better by feeling better and dressing better (to show off natural assets that they should be proud of).
One recent episode was a woman who hated her ample derriere so much that she changed in the bathroom, away from her husband. Through the presenters numerous tactics she grew to accept, appreciate, then love her body, gaining enough confidence to model a bikini on a catwalk to rapturous applause, with a massive - and naturally beautiful - grin.
Sure, models are pretty. But if you look at the work of top photographers, the photographs that sell as pieces of artwork, that get comissioned and grace intelligent hardback books with more value and life than a throw-away fashion magazine, the pictures are of people. Real people. With wrinkles that speak of a lifetimes wisdom, and scars that have stories behind them.
:)

Re: # 5 Actually, some people look really good with braces on. You could try decorating your braces with nice little pink thingies, or by asking the dentist to install a multicolor brace. Kaisa idea hay rukhsana jee?

No I`m not a dentist, but the human body and everything a man does to keep it in order fascinates me. We should learn to love our body and use it in every way possible. So get some nice pinky braces for your beautiful teeth and enjoy smiling :-)

Straight teeth are better than crooked teeth!
For biting right, for eating right, for sleeping right!
Having said that - few people have absolutely straight teeth set symmetrically - and most get along just fine in life.
A smiling face is a good indicator of a congenial person - although it could be merely an act - in which case the other person will find out soon. Therefore, it is good to have a smile. Crooked teeth, unless excessively so, need not ruin that ability to project friendship.

braces can seriosuly work wonders....i used to luk like dracula`s bride (metaphorically) but now i am happy with the result...
and braces definitely light up your smile....i remeber we had a bio teacher in first semester and she had really crooked teeth and whever she smiled the entire class just stared at the weird facial expression....then she got braces and i must say that now we smile along wid her...
