It is the culture of mega-show put up by nincompoops who care little for human welfare. The streets of Islamabad (which are called 'galies' at some places)have mostly been made 'closed-ended' with no footpaths causing two-way traffic. This has created serious problems for the car-parking and pedestrians. But their mega shows with mega corruption go on unchecked.

#1 I was at a public hearing related to Centaurus. Almost everyone there, other than the builders supported my ideas. The problem is that the decision-makers are the biggest law breakers, in this case the Environment Protection Act of 1997. Please read it at www.environment.gov.pk. With 60 years of disappointments behind them the majority are unwilling to expend the effort needed to change things. That's why we need small successes that will help build the morale of the citizens.

#3 It might help if you read some literature about sustainable cities. There is plenty on the net.

Re: # 2 A comparison of the styles is not relevant to the discussion here. It is how you maintain a town that is what you and others may wish to reflect on and maybe write an article about it.

I hate Islamabad's planning. What's the point in putting all those trees and make it look like a forest? There should be more buildings, more cheap, reliable and clean transportation facilities, more shopping malls and recreation areas, and more places where people can relax and just have a good time. I have noticed that people in Islamabad are living in the past as compared to those living in Lahore or Karachi. This places really needs to move on from its silly concept of 'keep it clean and beautiful' and develop more infrastructure in a safe and clean way.

I found your name a little intriguing, first I thought maybe you are DAUD(ibrahim ka)POTA, but I guess you are too old for that.... any way that was on the lighter side.
Lutyens planned New Delhi, Le Corbusier planned Chandigarh,
Doxiadis planned Islamabad, one wonders who did the best job of the three

Mr. Daudpota,

You are casting pearls before swine. To all the educated Islooites that frequent Islamabad Metroblog, you appear a regressive person against the development.

This is not the time of talking about environment, greenery, trees. People want to see development, monuments, skyscrapers, elevated expressways whether we have the infrastructure to support such adventures or not.

You can try as much as you like (I definitely appreciate your efforts) but even the citizens of your city don't realize what they are doing to their tranquil and green city.

Good luck with your efforts.
