#34 sure sure it was a calculated power-grab by shivsena, making the "best" out of communal anger that existed. they managed to change the local bakery name to "maharashtra bakery" (after damaging it)...the focus on muslim bussinesses was the easiest thing they could do...sending a message they they own the street.

they however could not have done it without the existing environment, which had been brewing for a while. shivsena is not a crazy organization, they have some amount of brainwashing against the muslims but they are a calculating political party and use the existing environmental conditions with street-grabbing mafia style...they are prolly out MQM but without guns.

As someone who lived through the riots, I can assure you that the riots were anything but insanity. They were deliberately planned and executed. There was a gradual build up, starting with the maha aarti tamasha. The first killings were by goons returning from the maha aarti.

Each division's SS unit was tasked with burning muslim owned businesses including prime retail space. One irani restaurant near my grandparent's place was burnt and in 6 months, a dance bar was opened in it's place..owned by the local SS goon backer..a dance bar opposite a sai baba temple..which is 100% against some rule against this sort of thing..

The guilty should be shot..no jail or anything..they'll get home cooked meals in jail..

The cop were not directly complicit. In the bombay riots, they were given "orders" not to do anything for a few days..When the orders came through, they were pretty effective at shutting things down.

That applies to Gujarat riots as well. The perpetrators should be tried in the court of law and punished.

Perpetrators of Bombay riots including Police and Politicians and the perpetrators of 1984 riots should be brought to justice. No ifs and buts about it. If we don't do that than we have failed to protect our citizens. There's nothing more shameful to any government to not be able to protect it's masses.

Modi, Thackery and Advani are the step-children of Jinnah.

Jinnah never guessed consequences of his politics. Had there ben no communal Muslim League there's no RSS and no Modis.

Law ought to catch-up with the criminals (Bombay riots 1992)who happened to be communal Hindus (i.e stpchildren of Jinnah and proponents of Hindu Pakistan).

how is your hatred of hindus any different from the hatred felt by the perpetrators of Gujarat riots? You demonise and demean your villians to the lowest level. Like Ranjit said, you dehumanize them. It is people exactly like you who caused the partition to spiral out of control. Why don't you use anger management techniques when you post online? I can understand your anger. But that is no excuse for lumping all Hindus as villains or child murderers. Remember, most of the activism to bring justice to the victims of the riots is carried out by Hindus. Please bear that in mind.

Please don't advocate nuking anyone out of rage. These are a credible deterrent in Pakistan's defense doctrine and not an aggressive one as a matter of policy. Pakistan will only use these in case of an existential threat.

The IMs are Indians first, and all they need is a strong leadership for lobbying (which is non-existent at the moment) so that state complicity in such acts can be prevented in the future.
