You are seconding my opinion , Indian can design which is not important as without good management design is worthless, and without good construction management design is worthlees. Assuming you are right there was design fault.
Any way we can send people to IIT college and you sent to lahore for management, it will be win win situation. Romair is helping in management in India , see big people from India companies do not mind help in management from Pakistan. I wish all readers good day and same to Mr Jayp.

The flyover collapse in pakistan was due to bad design. An australian consultant was called to check that. That can be traced directly back to the education system of pakistan and the NED graduate who designed it for the military who got teh constract to design.

The indian collapse is a construction problem, not a design problem.

Re: # 4 I have heard that also and seen pictures. Also big multistoried building collapsed in I-Bad vicinity not long ago. Nothing happened as usual.Corrouption and carelessness is killing both countries agree. Construction is all corrouption business in des. There is slight difference in construction in india they replace 20% of cement with soil as cement is costly while in here steel is costly so they use smaller bars of iron in cement concrete buildings. It is common to replace 1 inch bar with 7/8 inch dia. That is standard spacing is increased and as afternoon starts and engineer babu goes to have lunch and then drink liquior ( afternoon refreshment liquid refreshment) Muquadam on site says add more water and we get more water in concrete than supposed to be. More ythan 50% engineers are corroupt and 40 % even more corroyupt and 10% are not as they are new but soon they get experience abd become seasoned criminals , just as motorbike criminals.
Here also most time water is problem due to corrouption. Police and rangers are there to continue "water" hoarding by tankers. Now here also cruz missile tech. is there but they can not fix Dabheji Pumping plan for years. Then privatived company for electricity is correct, they ignore chief connections and charge law abiding citizen extra bills to cover. I thought when Saudi company with German general manager took over things will improve but they got worst as that former engineer from berling city electric company was useless in such conditions here. You need nice desi corroupt manager as they say Thief can catch thief. Any way no respect for engineers as they take tution and go usa and no payment to Madani.
I met real engineer from here who is working in usa in real engineering and working as construction of tall building ( he has engineer certificate/ practical type, not like IIK or NED type but real engineer who works with steel , cement and no bar reduction size even when client is not there or soil cement replacement indian style.Ther is no corrouption in usa construction type he said. He said in usa they always put right size bar and numbers even in footing when nobdy there and he said even steel putting man will refuse to use small bar or number in footing they say. Here in footing in collusion with Engineer babu 75% number of bars and one step down bar size. They say here no body can find once concrete poured.
Now people want to big big dams the reason is its eternal money eating business.
Anyway that engineer said when real earthquake starts people who live in recent cement building should start running away as 50% will come down. I think same think all over india, these corroupt engineers and builders are building cement coffins and getting away with murders. He said only safe cement building is defence Housing, they do not permit shoddy business.
Any way we need managers who can control corrouption and watch engineers force thenm to do right. Contractors can not be improved. That is reason I was not happy when people were critic behram when he was doing contracing in eath moving business not here but in USA. You can not do shody work and get paid in usa they send engineer to prison.

3. I know the quality of public works in India is not of world stanards but Gammon that was constrcuting the flyover is an MNC.

It was constracted out by the fauji chief of road ways, to teh fauji company called national logistics and will be investigated by the faujis.

Do you really think that faujis take only 25 percent of the budget. How about all the losses of fauji companies and the land grab by them.

Being a Hyderabadi, I fully agree with your views on the city going from good to bad to worse. It is an ordeal to be on the roads of the city. There is nothing but filth, debris and nerve racking traffic on the roads. Hyderabad has become a mini India with people from other states making it their home-base. The blame lies with the administration too - it was pathetic to see pictures of MLAs and their leader laugh at some triva at a meeting convened to discuss the recent bomb blast. We need a change, most urgently in our leadership.

I think just recently, a bridge that President Musharraf inaugurated two months earlier, collapsed in Pakistan.

It is sorry state of construction in India which is sinking due to hyper inceasing population. Now Indians always their power in education and tech etc but when it comes to build bridge or nuclear power plants it is dismay failure. They claim to send satellite etc but can not build bridges. Management failure is apprant. They mauy have IITs etc but no knowledge to work with earth , water, cement, steel. How about getting some indians to come to Lahore Managemet study and eat humble pies. Pakistani motorways people drive as fast as you can drive and go to sleep and motor will go smooth better than most european and amerrican roads those who have travelled to foreign lands say I believe them. Corrouption is too much is part of indian concrete mixing and soil replacing cement. I hope they are not useing pakistani cement as indian factories have no capacity while here companies are cranking millions of tons of extra fine grade cement. Indian cement plants use coal while here they use gas in cement making.
Any way IIT and so called advanced IT stuff is failure. Hope indians can soon learn simple thing as pouring cemrnt. Such little things brings down reputation of IITs and now days in Arab lands IIT is lower than grad at NED as they are not just tech but management traing making them to higher positions and mercifully hire engineers and some times have to fire as problem engineers from factory producing zombi engineers of India.
