Anyone who says that the rioting started in 1947 is a jerk!
actually rioting started in 1946 in Bihar. They were caused by the abduction of four Muslim women. Hindus had started killing all Muslims in Ara, Chapra,Saran, Patna, Balia and thousand villages were ruined by them. The hindu, sikh thought that after IML sweep in 1945 in West Bengal- the state will go to the Muslims.

VRV,
You may read Chapter 10- titled Mountbatten's Responsibility for the Massacres and Migrations in the Punjab in the 1994 edition of "Partition of India Legend and Reality" by H M Seervai.
I mean H M Seervai, Kuldip Nayar and countless Indians are actually on ISI payroll right?
As for changing goal posts, you are given to using phrases which don't apply to the context:
1. Could you explain why Mountbatten did not deploy the force?
2. Could you explain why Mountbatten with held the Boundary Award?
3. Could you explain why he pressurised Radcliffe into changing the map and making Gurdaspur part of India?
So far you've repeated a whole lot of nonsense but have failed to answer these questions. Now over to your claim that the AIML was using violence in March 1947... please give us an authentic source that proves that AIML resorted to violence in its civil disobedience campaign in Punjab.
Lets not make any mistake about it... the mass murderers were Mountbatten, Nehru, Patel and Gandhi. Atleast Gandhi and Mountbatten got what they deserved...

I think that'd have been a small price to pay to save the lives of a million souls and the souls being killed in India in the name of Pakistan and thousands being killed on the western frontier now.

Correct:
Violence was unleashed by AIML since March 1947 in Punjab. It's not just from 1st August 1947. AIML trained youth in the use of arms, knives and daggers. The youth were even given certificates for the skills acquired from AIML.

Re: # 244 Manto,
Indian is defending him (Mountbatten) because these folks because these Nehru Chacha allowed Mountbatten to be the GG ( any ideas why ? hint: something to do with a lady in Viceroy's Office ) .
VRV rightly mentioned the deployment of Forces but failed to give the time frame! Mountbatten deployed the forces only after 8th of July - it was too late by then - by that time most of the refuges were killed.

Yasser,
U keep repeating the same falshoods to embellish ur ignoble theories and evil past of Jinnah.
As for ur hero Seevrai, Pl publish those gospels for all of us to see.
Haha funny Yasser, now u constrict the logic to Aug 1 and 15th (a typical change of goalposts) to save the butt of Jinnah? Violence was unleashed by AIML since March 1947 in Punjab. It's not just n 1st August 1947. AIML trained youth in the use of srms and knives and daggers. The youth were give certificates for thier skills in such deadly weapons.
In hindsight, MB wud have put Jinnah in jail and cut him to pieces to prevent this mass murder of a million people. I think that'd have been a small price to pay to save the lives of a million souls and the souls killed in India in the name of Pakistan and thousands killed on the western frontier.

I suggest you read Chapter 10 of H M Seervai's "Partition of India : Legend and Reality" which titled Mountbatten's Responsibility for the Massacres and Migrations in the Punjab
According to Seervai, Azad and Moseley both blame Mountbatten for the violence that happened. While Mountbatten had specifically promised both Azad and Jinnah that he would put down violence using soldiers, guns and tanks ... he refused to do any of that and sat idly... in the period between 10th to 17th August... refusing to even inform Pakistan and India where there borders were.
Mountbatten's answer was obvious that he did not want to endanger British lives for Indians and Pakistanis...
And yet you have an Indian defending him for shedding the blood of Indians and Pakistanis...

Poor VRV continues to lie shamelessly. The damage was done when Mountbatten was the Viceroy from 1st August to 15th August when he refused to deploy his force. Furthermore... by refusing to declare the award before the 15th, Mountbatten, VRV's white master, virtually ensured the worst butchery of Muslims by Hindus and Sikhs.
As for Jinnah he did all he could... he pleaded with Mountbatten to act and use the boundary force but Mountbatten refused to because according to Mountbatten that would endanger the British officers... and those British lives were more important than Pakistani or Indian.
