CJ Iftekhar was not among the bunch of thug judges; he had seprated himself from the bench hearing this case right from the start. probably he knew very well the moral candor of his corrupt colleagues.

hamidm #229 The CJ has done what he should have done - upheld the law. Even if it is a bad law (as I was trying to explain to urstruly below). Dont look for one man, or even one branch of government, to carry the baton for the rest of the nation. The CJ has demonstrated once againt to the nation what the rule of law means!!

It is time for politicians to stop making deals and to unite as one to re-instate democracy before anything else, to take the baton the rest of the way.

abbay bhootni ke, I was not singing any praises for SC, I was only appreciating the courage of one man, who showed spine - Justice Iftekhar Chowdery. Today his corrupt colleagues have stabbed him and the whole nation in the back, ruined the movement and effort of our courageous lawyers, and disrespected the martyrdom of 42 who fell in karachi for the democracy. Please appreciate the difference. But IC was just one man and the vicious oppressive class is just too strong. yes they suffered a minor setback but they were not defeated.

urstruly: You are living in your own ideological world, detached from reality, when you see Pakistanis as being either "westernized" (and therefor bad) and "islamized" (and therefore good).

"Westernized" women like Asma Jehangir have been fighting the evils of dictatorship for years. This year, "westernized" suit-wearing lawyers steeped in the "western" legal system have taken the leadership in the fight against dictatorship.

"Islamized" maulvis demonstrate their true colors in time - as Mullah "17th Amendment Deal" Fazloo has done.

The CJ has upheld the law today, even if it is a bad law, the result of Mullah attempts at deal making with the dictator.

So, you can quit whining about "westernized oppressive classes" and try to be honest for once on who the oppressors are. Since the only loser from your refusal to see reailty is yourself and anyone unfortunate enough to be influenced by your thinking.

Today is just another sad day in the history of Pakistan. The corrupt un-principled judges have once again sided with forces of oppression. Unfortunately, we had it coming anyway. It has been told time and again that there is a corrupt westernized oppressive social class that is suffocating this country with its vicious talons of oppression. They just keep changing their faces among themsleves and play the danse macabre upon the people of Pakistan. Inside they have one common objective - keep the people disenfrachised and oppressed. It was told that those who have interests in keeping this system of oppression running would not relinquish the power to the masses without guilotuines and firing squads. Today is the day when our direction towards this bloody destiny has been sealed.
