Masadi sahib,
If Mushy is just the peon of the West and doing their bidding why does it want to replace him (as you are trying to suggest)? Why go through all the pain of replacing him when the next guy will just be tweedledum to tweedledee?
Regards

tahmed writes "the "surrenders" in swat are said to have been in fact soldiers refusing to fight their own people"
There is a disconnect between the soldiers and officers of the Pak Army and a further disconnect between the lower rank officers and the senior leadership. The soldiers do not decide affairs and don't have the authority to put Musharraf under house arrest. The top leadership firmly in the pockets of the US elite i.e. it is a US occupation force, reflects US desires against the desire of their peon out of favor, i.e. Musharraf. If the rumor about his house arrest is true, and I have reason to believe it is, then the US occupation force has acted keeping in view what the US elite desire and have desired ever since the cycle of crisis erupted for Musharraf, to take his uniform off and thereby castrate him for all real power intents and purposes. Kayani and not the rank and file of the military have acted, but the peon of the West, tahmed will deliberately try to mask the hierarchy of influence under which this military acts. He will similarly try to mask the fact that the US built up Musharraf and strengthened him at the expense of the Pakistani people and now due to ulterior, external motive want to get rid of him and he like a captive donkey who thinks he is still free but is tied down, wants to stay in the position of power. The people in this entire equation are mere spectators, though the unintended consequences of this game, like the lawyer's movement was a positive development that will bite the US elite and their lackeys in their butts for a long time to come, as will the fallout from this "emergency".

tahmed32, I agree it looks as if, the game is up for Musharraf....this just appeared on thebeeb website
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7078656.stm
the ground is and has been prepared....
BiBi is flying in to Islamabad and being readied for the coronation.
I do not think she has it in her to deliver the goods. Pakistan has to wait for the next generation of leaders. The current crop have seen way too much to be of any use.

Re: # 42 Tahmed32 the game was up for anyone over the age of 50 years. They should not be allowed anywhere near public office.
Pakistan needs to skip a generation. The establishment must take this collective decision to commit political suicide for the sake of pakistan. There is othing any of these guys can do to deliver the goods, BiBi, Nawaz et all are failed crooks. Pakistan needs new and better crooks.
What say you?

majumdar: Let us hope Musharraf realizes the game is up and leaves while he still can. Here is a circular put out by PAL-C (Pakistani-American Leadership Center in Washington DC) which shows yet another source of opposition to Musharraf's outrageous moves:
PAL-C PRESS RELEASE
PAL-C Response to Declaration of a State of Emergency in Pakistan; Urges Continued U.S. Support for Pakistani People in These Challenging Times
Washington D.C., November 4, 2007 - The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is gravely concerned about the proclamation of a state of emergency by the government of Pakistan and the subsequent suspension of the Constitution, suppression of the news media, and detaining of lawyers, politicians, human rights activists and others.
While PAL-C respects the right of the government to maintain law and order, to provide security, and to contain and combat extremism, such emergency measures are not in Pakistan's best interest, and contradict the progress Pakistan has made toward becoming a fully democratic society.
PAL-C urges a prompt return to the constitutional course, an affirmation that elections will be held for a new parliament in January, the lifting of all restrictions on the media, the release of activists to allow a level playing field for all political forces and to assure the independence of all government institutions, and for all parties to act with restraint in what is obviously a very difficult situation.
PAL-C will continue to monitor the situation as it develops and encourages the U.S. Administration and Congress to continue its support and aid to the people of Pakistan in the challenging days ahead, especially now when that support is needed by the people of Pakistan more than ever.
The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is a professional Pakistani-American advocacy organization with an office located on Capitol Hill. It launched the Congressional Pakistan Caucus in May 2004 and works to raise awareness about Pakistani-American interests in Washington policy circles. Our activities include facilitating the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, liaising Pakistani officials and the community with Members of Congress, and mobilizing all Pakistani-Americans at the grassroots level. If you wish to learn more about PAL-C, please visit our website www.pal-c.org or email us at info@pal-c.org.

Tahemd sahib,
Just read on the Geo TV website that Condy has asked Mushy to step down as COAS. Could it be a sign of things to come or is it mere posturing?

Apparently the rumour is hot and denial has come on BBC by the Government. Regarding Masadi, well I wont comment..
He is not a bad person though too much obsessed with US elite...
Polar and extreme views seldom reflect complete picture...

mushi under house arrest? too good to be true. in one way it doesnt matter - musharraf's destruction of the Supreme Court, his contempt for the basic rights of Pakistanis, his name is already mud in Pakistan history. so it is merely a question of how much more damage he does to Pakistan before he is gone.
but then...the military does not have its heart in what musharraf has been doing. the "surrenders" in swat are said to have been in fact soldiers refusing to fight their own people.
