Only foul minds generate foul language. Gentlemen please refrain from initiating personal attacks. Freedom (free-DUMB) of speech DOES NOT mean THIS ...
CHOWK editors, do you know how to EDIT?

Here I will post it in its entirety...

"Exhibition of photographs opens at French Centre

By Shoaib Ahmed

LAHORE: An exhibition of photographs by Tahir Gul Hasan titled ‘One for the Road’ opened at French Centre, Scotch Corner, Upper Mall on Saturday.

The Alliance Française de Lahore has organised the event. Matthieu Pinel, director Alliance Française de Lahore, was also present on the event.

Around 41 photographs are on display and these include nature scenes, cityscapes, portraits, abstract and still-life. ‘Autumn in Paris’, ‘Shadow and its Butterfly’, ‘Castle’, ‘Wheel and Tree’, ‘Big Sister is Watching You’, ‘Flower and It’s Soul’, ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Wooden Bridge’ are some of the striking photographs displayed at the exhibition.

The display includes black and white as well besides the colour photographs. They have been taken in Paris, Lahore, Athens, Gilgit, Riyadh, Birmingham, London, Bangkok and Oslo.

Talking to Daily Times, Mr Hasan said that this was his first solo exhibition. He called himself a self-taught artist. Looking back, Mr Hasan said that he first purchased a camera 35 years ago. The camera that he bought was the Diana, a toy-camera. “It was a magical box that caught moments,” he said. He has not taken up photography as a profession because he “adores the freedom of being an amateur”. His compositions are uncluttered yet strong. “Street photography attracts him more than anything else,” he said."

Shore sahib, IQRA! (Read with understanding!). It's not Upper Mall! Now dig this para carefully (or get your teacher's help):

One will eventually reach The Mall whether approaching from Hall Road with its blaring loudspeaker noise, via the narrow Beadon Road, through Lawrence Road of Maula Buksh Paan Shop fame, or through Temple Road where yours truly resided. In a way, it is like going to Rome as all roads lead to The Mall. But it happened on 24 September 1998 when my poor accident-prone Osama look-alike friend Karam Dad Khan—affectionately called K.D.—drifted from the straight path of The Mall.

Well, Shore sahib, as they say in the USA, whaddaya know! Maybe I'll do a piece on Mcleod Road one day! Do stay tuned for more on CHOWK and enjoy the past articles too!

In my Alliance Francaise-sponsored solo photogrpahy exhibition, a montage of the film hoardings of Mcleod Road did in fact immortalize your home! Please read the review:

Tahir,

Thanks for taking us back in time to Mall Road

or what my father's generation used to call

"Thee Mall".

With all the polictics etc. here these days I am tempted

to move to the RIGHT of the CHOWK page, which is

a very difficult decision for an old leftist...

Ah nostalgia......

I remember my paternal grandfather's showroom on the Mall opposite Masjid e Shuhada ( the round marble clad mosque with pierced jalis for walls). Going down the block to Kim Mun Chinese Restaurant, climbing the narrow staircase and enjoying really good chinese food. Coming from School to my Dada Aboo's shop and then walking over to corner of Beadon Rd to those dry fruit shops to get a snack.

The Mall Road always filled me with awe in my childhood especially near the Punjab Assembly and the Wapda building. I remember one day I was at my grandfather's shop and there were people everywhere...my grandfather telling me that the late Imam Khomeini is visiting lahore.

and oh yes, the numerous trips to the Chiddiya Ghar or Zoo just around the corner.

Me and my Dadi Ammi used to go walk in Lawrence Gardens every morning in the early eightees. She would send me to the Jasmine bushes to pick up fallen Blossoms so that she could put them her in rumaal.
During Jamun season we would stop near the Jamun trees and pick the ripe fruit fallen on the ground, or we would pick Kumruch fruit near the library.

Looking back at my childhood in Lahore, I must say in many ways it was magical because I was in Lahore with access to the many beautiful places in Lahore.

The Mall, The Fortress, The Main Boulevard Gulberg, The Neher, RaceCourse Park, The Zoo and Lawrence Gardens, the Museum, Punjab University and so much more....

Sub kuch kitna badal gaya hai..... aur hum bhi....
