Actually, the need of the hour is to resist Talibanic influences that unfortunately are gaining ground in Muslim communities. They just have this "Thou ain't holier than me" type attitude. They believe that they are the veritable keepers of Islam, and look upon others with disdain who don't fit in their interpretation of Islam.I think time is up when the Muslim community should shun such elements who are bent on making a mockery of Islam with their tunnel vision.

I think there are two aspects of it.
1- It is not a crime to wear what you were wearing. So that is OK.
2- Most of conservative women have this mindset of correcting others, if they don't conform to their set of values. It is also common to say these kind of stuff to near relatives by these conservative ladies.

I agree with most of what u have to say ms. amal....it is however the same psychosis that makes noble of England to look down on peasants...the problem of superiority complex and that of being a khudai-faujdaar is not limited to Islam but I do agree for a ppl who claim to be God's postman should be a lil more polite n cultured....it is un-natural for random ppl to care about your eternal bliss...i sure dont...i hope u get it but i m not loosing any sleep over it...but there r ppl who r genuinely concerned with betterment of humanity in all aspects of life n after-life as well

"his mindset of getting a kick out of shaming others and rubbing their faces in mud for their supposed inappropriate interpretation of Islam must be eliminated."

Sorry Bibi ji. You have not read original Quran and Hadiths. If you want me I can provide you the appropriate Hadiths in support of the "mindset" that you want to eliminate.
I hope these Hadiths do not offend the Chowk Staff's sensibility that they ban me for posting them!!

I totally agree with you Amal Sahiba!

What a brilliant essay!

I loved it!

I honestly cant stand these holier than thou people either. First of all, who asked them what they think of us. For all I care, they can go to hell and take their blistering opinions with them.
