Err I hate to break it to you but the majority of people who wear che guevara t-shirts couldn't really give a fuck who the guy was or what he did. His face looks good on a t-shirt ab jaan layga kya?

There are two sides to every story. It is that simple. In Pakistan today and over the last year, there have been activists who are really sincere in the causes they wish to campaign for. There have also been numerous others who just join them to catch a little limelight reflected of them. Or to appear rebellious in our society. There are numerous student organizations and groups being set up to bring about change. I speak of some of the people among these.. who think a trip to the press club washes away the millions they have exploited in the same tenure of government they are "fighting against" give me a break!! It is the same mind process as wearing a t shirt with Che on it... and thinking yeh im kool cuz i support him. However as the author pointed out...the wearer does not have the slightest clue as to what Che stood for.

So regardless what the article is, you have to make a point that why people rallied for CJ? or was it about something else? Please do elaborate.
May be "Awaam" is stupid and follow tiniest shred of hope? while "leaders" stay on the sidelines.

There is a reason that everyone and their garden hose have joined up the rallies; the people have started realizing that an oppressive, vicious, and outdated political set up is on the verge of collapse. The collapse, like Titanic , is threatening to drag everything into the whirlpool where it is sinking. Pakistani society is going through a crucial stage of existential struggle. These people who come out to rallies know very well that from now on anyone who has ever harmed Pakistan and those who support this collapsing political order bear the punishment of death. These people are coming out in an attempt to get a hold on this chaos which is about to destroy us all. fouj, which historically was seen as a controller of chaos has been discredited and proved itself to be the utmost failure. As a matter of fact everything that is wrong today is because of fouj. They are custodians of this oppressive, cruel, and illegitimate political order; we will have to bear the consequences for our pliability and compliance.

Excellent point Jehanzeb you have hit the nail right on its head. This is what i term th "Bandwagon Phsyce" it is also in its most vivid example on display today in Pakistan, where everyone and their garden hose have joined up to lead rallies and hold vigils for people they do not even acknowledge or care about in their daily lives. Anyone who tries to resist them is termed a cronie.
