As you fear, no such upheavel is going to take place in India. I knew a few couples in the 70s who lived together.
In those days, Kabir Bedi and Protima were the role models and the society did not care a damn, and why should it now.

A good and timely article indeed. It was sure to happen sooner or later as it was the need of the time to remove inhuman restrictions imposed and the devastating consequences the break-up of marriage involves in the sub-continent, especially after the surge for woman empowerment. In Canada, I learn, they register such live-in couples as 'living under common law'.
