Re: # 29

VRV,

I have no faith in the concept of nation state or patriotism. I do not intend to be clanish or parochial.

Tags like Tamilian, Telugu don't evoke any special emotions in me. I am more proficient in Tamil than Telugu.

When people like Harimau indulge in wrongful and malice propoganda, I think facts needed to be placed on the sabhai.
I have no hatred towards Brahmins. I have lots of positive things to talk about them.

Re: # 36 ha ha ha ha ha !

seriously What do you mean by partner? just curious....?
Did you know NTR had to build specially reinforced roads to ge the statue to Hyd. The rock is from Nagarjuna Konda area. Also the damn thing almost sank in to the dirt in Hussain Sagar!

BTW do you know how old Hussain sagar is?

Irony,

I think ur partner is writing 4 u. OK. I got ur witty points. :) I know of a blind muni/sage. I must read further b4 I make comments on it.

The replica of Nagarjuna Konda is erected on Hussain Sagar and a huge Budhdha statue was also erected in the middle of Hussain Sagar. I agree Buddhism was the state religion in many kingdoms of Indian subcontinent.

What Venkat wrote needs futher research/reading for me to believe. (I agree with the tonsuring point).

Re: # 30 the problem is slightly different...there is no general animosity. If you look at the linguistic history, the telugu spoken in telangana is supposed to be the closest to the original telugu of the land. Well curently it is mixed with urdu....still ...

but what is at play here ...is the something more than just linguistic or regional chauvinism. to realise this you need to wander around telangana to see the unsaid or unsayable picture.

However, the key is the jobs scenario. The circar districts had more educational institutions meant for all then the old nizam districts where these institutions were resereved for the bastard sons and daughters of the nizams - like OU, Nizam's college, etc. As a result the telugus in telangana were not able to take up the jobs which required education and hence more remunerative. This can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and takes some time to rectify. This is a major issue - and understable. That is why if you look around in the state, and in the surrounding states - you will find a prevalenceof naxalitism - Chattisgarh, Khammam, Warangal, Nalagonda ---steretching into orrissa (koraput, ganjam etc). If you look at the NREGS, the major problems are in the areas of Chattisgarh and Orrisa. AP has donet he right thing is the most efficient states - and in fact as a result of this naxal activity has reduced (a little perhaps). Most of the guys claiming to be naxalites are gangstersand hoodlums calling themselves this.

Majumdarda,

1.Is there hatred and animosity between people of Telengana and people of coastal Andhra?

Yes, unfortunately. There's a clear case of discrimination against Telangana for the last 50 yrs. It may be due to the smartness of Andhra technocrats and politicians. Telangaites are straightforward ppl; previously innocent types but not now.

2. Would it be a peaceful separation or a acrimonious one?

Cud be both. All depends on Soniamma (tongue out icon).

3. Would a separate state lead to enmity between the people of the two state?

We may fight like what TN-Karnataka are doing now. There'd be water issues. The enmity cud prolly be perpetuated.

We Indians are pesky ppl. (sigh)

Arjun,

That's a good point.

North Indians are creating havoc in Mumbai esp Muslais from UP and Hindus from Bihar. There is no denying this fact.

Bull shit...That fascist rat raj thackrey is just trying to out-fascist his uncle...all to cling on to relevance..

bombay tyachya bapachi nahi ahe...I know these madrchods very well..they tried to use their influence to get one of their kids into a catholic run school and when they were unsuccessful, they tried to make a big "christians against marathi manoos" thing about it...that fell completely flat on their faces because most of the kids going to the catholic school are not catholic..they're hindoooos...a lot of them ghati..

Raj is a chicken suffering from bird flu: Bal Thackeray

Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has described the tirade against North Indians unleashed by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, the outfit floated by his estranged nephew Raj Thackeray, as a means to build his political career.

The octogenarian leader said he agreed with Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar [Images] that these tactics to gain free publicity should be ignored. Without naming Raj, Thackeray said 'chicken in state politics are suffering from bird flu of depression', and hence they have no value.

Thackeray asserted that the Shiv Sena was the only voice of the Marathi speaking people. In the last 40 years, the relationship between the party and Maharashtrians was not that of a political alliance, but of a family, he claimed. Electoral successes of the party had proved that only Maharashtrians had the first right over its state capital, declared Thackeray.

''It is laughable that some people, who have quit this family, should speak of the welfare of Maharashtrians,'' Thackeray noted.

VRV sahib,

Regarding the Telengana issue.

1.Is there hatred and animosity between people of Telengana and people of coastal Andhra?
2. Would it be a peaceful separation or a acrimonious one?
3. Would a separate state lead to enmity between the people of the two state.

If the answer to the above 3 questions is No (which is the case IMHO), it should not be something to be worried about.

Would like your opinion on this.

Regards

Venkat,

I know how this word originated and I encounter this term very often. I take it easy...I'm not living in AP since 1995 and I dont have much attachment with that state....I am more or a free-spirit, internationl-type kid.

Irony,

That's from ur partner, I know.

The guy Potti fasted unto death and Nehru gave us our Pakistan after he died. His death sparked riots and we got our land.....free from Hari's Akhand Madras (which includes Mysore, Circar dists of Andhra).

We are not andhakas.

We fought for Kauravas in Mahabharata. Ppl from Telangana fought as mercenaries in 1857 (referred to as Tilangas in official records). Satavahanas who ruled Indian subcontinent after Mauryas are Telugus.

Now we are in fatricidal war (Andhra Vs Telengana). It bothers if ppl hate each other on this US vs THEM paradigm. It destroys India. I voiced the same concern when Marathis attacked NIs.

BTW if Harimau thinks that Golti is offending us...Then a big NO.

I believe you would want to know why?
Harimau's grand parents didnt have enough balls to address Telugus.

Te-lu-gu. True to their nature, they tried to use a word that normal people would not catch easily. They just reversed the phonics and pronounced it.

Golts were the people who told Harimau's grandpa that it is ok to hymn in Tamil, which the rest of the populace, in Tamilnadu, could understand. If they had not been checked they would still be mumbo-jumboing.
