Ananth07#: "Sometimes I am surprised… that I find myself supporting Pakistan cricket team when they are playing some other country..."
i have spent my last 15 years, primarily with indians, professionally (and to a great deal in personal life)......and now i am actually in india, off and on......so perhaps i am an authority on this subject....
the amount of cultural similarities are overwhelming....when i visited south india, i assumed, at least, there would be quite a bit of differnce between the south and pakistan.....even there, the differences are minor......
indian business and pakistan business have learnt to work with each other seamlessly......you may be surprised to find out how many business projects are being done, in a combined fashion, by indian and pakistani companies - specially in the middle east.....
there are, in fact, projects being done in pakistan by indian companies, through backdoor workarounds in singapore and dubai and what not......
so, once the whole kashmir thing settles one way or the other, you will not be able to tell much of a difference between the two place; specially between north india and pakistan......
for those peaceniks who want a bright picture, do take a look at how indian and pakistan businesses have found work arounds to do projects......e.g. a huge singapore financial institution establishes its middle east office in dubai.....this office buys a large bank in pakistan and starts a gigantic real estate project in karachi....musharraf comes to inaugarate the bank and projects.......it becomes a key part of his govts. economic plans......however, it turns out that all the software being used by the singapore parent company is being developed and implemented by companies in bangalore.......and they have to have the same software for all their projects in pakistan, otherwise they cannot go ahead with those projects......what does musharraf decide?......does he stop the projects and kick out the singapore company......or does he work out a backdoor deal with the indian companies........

I am quoting the Pakistan constitution to point out that what I was suggesting was beyond simple equality before law which is embodied in the constitution but effective safeguards for religious minorities that the Lahore resolution promises including their mandatory consultation in affairs governing them.
It is because the basic principle of TNT has been negated in the name of Islam, which has created such problems.
I am surprised though at your inability to read a post before commenting on it.

Ananth,
You wud be surprised how many Injuns support Pakis when they are playing some other countries. In the 1992 WC- at the height of Kashmir jehad- most of my classmates (100% Hindu + Sikh) cheered for Pak in the final.
Regards

Over the centuries Hindus have a much better record in respecting the rights of minorities …….… How Islam treats a minority… that can be seen in all Islamic countries…

Bulleya,
When I look at Pakistanis it’s with a mix of emotions…. There is anger for … centuries of domination and destruction by Islamic rule .
At the same time … there is some emotional pull…. as people sharing the same cultural/ ethnic space with half the population of pakistan….… (as the other half of pakistanis claim to be direct descendants of the prophet )

Even Harishbhai has missed this, so I can't blame you. Pak is occupying 1/3rd of JK state illegally.
Nope Majumdar bhai, I didn't miss this but thought the genius would argue that it was before Kashmir legally acceeded to India, that is why I kept this point deliberately out.

Romair,
(pakistan should not feel threatened by india, even though)
Does Canada feel threatened by USA even though the metrics are even worse? Same I guess with Indonesia-Malaysia. What exactly is Pakistan afraid of? That India wud invade and annexe Pak. I have already explained why India wud do no such thing. India is just a bogeyman.
(three princely states, which, logically, could not have belonged to any one country......)
Yes. And for that MAJ (pbuh) is to blamed. Why did he try to gobble up all three. In 1947, India was more interested in HYD and wud have given up JK in return for Hyd.
(india should feel threatened by pakistan)
Why not? Just as USA feels threatened by A'stan. India does not fear an invasion but jihadi activity sponsored by Pak.
(has never broken or taken an inch of indian territory......)
Even Harishbhai has missed this, so I can't blame you. Pak is occupying 1/3rd of JK state illegally.
(perhaps the historical status quo of south asia is still in place...... )
So why are we quarrelling?
Regards

....never broken or taken an inch of indian territory......
That my dear Captain Clueless has not been for want of trying, but the lack of ability. What was Kargil about where Paki soldiers aka Mujahideen took over Indian posts vacated in the winter if not occupation? Mushy dreamed that the world would intervene and Kashmir would banega Pakistan.
If Pakistan had attempted the same trick against its all-weather friend China or any other large nation like Russia, US or the UK, it would have been nuked back into the stone age.

Ananth07 #: "Did Muslims expct better treatment from hindu majority …when hindus were to get power after the brits left ????/"
this is exactly my point.......muslims did not expect better treatment.....which is why they asked for autonomy under a federation...and when they were not allowed that, they formed their own country.......
a desire for security is human nature.......

Old man claims to be a suicide bomber
Thursday, February 14, 2008
By our correspondent
A new kind of hoax has started making the rounds in the city. An old man reportedly asks for a lift, enters cars, tells drivers that he is a suicide bomber and orders them to keep driving and ram their vehicles into those of law-enforcement personnel.
The old man hit again on Wednesday. This time around, he entered the car of a retired army officer, Capt. (Retd) Ishtiaq. He was coming from Clifton in his car (D-5845), when an old man asked him for a lift near Teen Talwar. The man reportedly showed Capt. (Retd) Ishtiaq his “suicide bombing jacket” and a remote control, and told him to continue driving. When they reached Fawwara Chowk near the Governor house, the man ordered Ishtiaq to ram his car into a police mobile standing nearby, or he would blow himself us right there. Ishtiaq meanwhile turned off the CNG ignition in the car, and the vehicle stopped. When it did not restart despite repeated attempts, the old man got off and ran away.
//////////////////////
Moral of the story, do not give lift to any one. Another rung down in pakistan on humane feelings. First they got rid of non-muslims, well an act of in-humanity though consistent with TNT, now get rid of any help to the needy.

dost-mittar #: "Surely, you are not serious. This has got nothing to do with the size but the status quo. India is a status quo country; Pakistan wants to change this status quo, hence the threat."
there is no status quo in south asia.....the countries are far too new to have one.....it is still in the process of development......the historical status quo for a thousand years has been a large religious majority being ruled by relgious minorities......
anyways, what you are suggesting is that pakistan should not feel threatened by india, even though india is eight times the size, has six times the military budget, has already assisted in breaking the country into two, did everything to ensure that pakistan collapse, immediately, after its creation.......not to mention ended up with the three princely states, which, logically, could not have belonged to any one country......
however, india should feel threatened by pakistan, even though pakistan is a fraction of its size, with a fraction of its military strength and has never broken or taken an inch of indian territory......
hmm.......interesting.....a majority feeling threatened by a minority......perhaps the historical status quo of south asia is still in place......

YLH,
The pathetic YLH is quoting the pak constitution, it is not worth the paper it is written on.
Take the case of that poor mulsim school teacher. he is supposed to have said that mohammed could not have been born a muslim. This is simply logical, clear as day light. He was sentenced to death under the blasphemy laws.
While the appeal was in the process, he was stabbed to death in prison.
YLH, I rest my case. Pakistan including their legal system is pure un-adultrated extreme version, the TNT-islam. Only that islam could achieve the distruction of bhumian budhas which even the ghouris and geznavis allowed to remain.
YLH, have some sence of of reality, of what is happening in pakistan today, look up, leave the dead pages of worlpert alone.

People in Tamil Nadu did not participate in the movement for a new country, so their opinion does not count.
DM Sahib, ever heard of Subramaniam Bharati? His revolutionary poetry gave impetus to many a Tamil freedom fighter. Many Tamils participated as eagerly as their North Indian brethren in the freedom struggle. Please do not make such blanket statements without proper basis.
I can understand Captain Clueless making such statements because we all know he's...well ..clueless, not just about India but his own country, notwithstanding his verbose posts full of BS, but coming as it does from you, reflects an abject lack of knowledge of your own country.
