Hamid you fool (respectfully stated....not!) Hillary has the elite machine behind her, she is not "easier to beat". The contest now is between those among the elite who want to go into Iran in the short or long term. In my opinion (which is speculation currently), as I was telling HP today, is that if they desire a short term adventure then McCain is their man, if a longer term stance and undoing some of the absurdity of the hawkish conservative wing- always thought of as stupid but a good rabble rousing crowd by the sophisticated conservatives, then their 'gal' is Hillary- Obama is out except as a subordinate.

American politics has started resembling Indian politics. The white establishment can be compared to the “forward castes” of India. Both groups trying hard to keep hands on levers of power.

A growing minority of Hispanics in the US can be compared to the OBC group of India. In India OBC have achieved substantial success in gaining power… same can be expected from the Hispanics of US. This time around Hillary seem to getting the Hispanic votes… she WON both California and Texas.

Blacks can be compared to the Dalits of India. Obama is trying to do Mayavatis “ dalit-brahmin” formula in US……….. by. getting the black votes and also a majority of white votes.

Generic wisdom is; don't put all your eggs in the same basket. I don't think Indians are en-mass voting for Hillary or Obama. Actualy, you will always be part of winning and loosing side. That is better situation. In politics, sitting in the opposition bench is best experience; no commitment and full authority to critiseze. BJP was the best opposition party. When they got the chair, all their weakness were exposed.

The Hindooos, being naturally a devious lot, worked this out a long time back. In 1993, we had an assembly elections in Delhi, INC and BJP were the main contenders with the left wing JD a distant third. To splinter the votes of Momins/SCs/slumdwellers (who are solid INC voters normally) they started portraying JD as the main rival in many donwmarket seats. With the result that INC's votebank split badly and BJP was the runaway winner. They have also done similar tricks in UP, Bihar also to split the Muslim vote bank of INC/SP etc.
