Re #72, leave it to a Pakistan Army moron to pontificate on the US elections, and pray tell me dumb (Feroz) and dumber (Fuzair), what prevents Hillary from picking Obama as her running mate to checkmate the competition if populism was what counted in US elections? Where manipulation determines the game things bigger and more powerful than the voting game and the facade of popular democracy is what determines the outcome....

The primary voting places in northern virgina are packed...3 to 1 dem/gop I'm hearing..which means most of them are there for obama.looks like obama has virginia sewn up..
hillary has another problem..all her donors are maxed out on the 4600$ limit..obama has tons of 50-100$ donors..he can go back to them for the same amount a couple of more times..
mccain won't be able to raise in 6 months what obama can raise in 3 weeks..

I agree with Feroz, McCain's best bet is a Hillary nomination; despite the fact that the Christian right dislikes McCain, they truly hate Hillary AND the young Obama crowd will not go out to vote for Hillary. The best thing that could happen for McCain would be if Obama is ahead in the popular vote and elected delegate count but the superdelegates go for Hillary. That would give her the nomination and really get Obama and his supporters angry. McCain has a shot at winning then.

One mild terror attack within US border, a huge one in middle-east or Pakistan's WMDs falling into Taliba/AlQuiada hands (even an article/news, though a rumor in reality), and Dems will be doomed for next 8 years. Keys of the Whitehouse are with fanatic Muslims and Neocons. But once Bush is gone, still-born Pakistani democracy baby will be thrown into bushes. With the handouts for Republican Pakistan will survive for another 8 years. That is why there are predictions of Pakistan's demise in 2017.

hamid writes "...... so now you are saying that the hispanics in california and the african-americans on the welfare rolls make up the american elite ? ........ "
No, they don't decide on how much money a candidate has and how they are made and broken by the corporate media, hands bigger than theirs decide that. Regarding McCain's youngest son, the macho culture together with propaganda about freedom combined with the warm fluff of the home will convince dimwits (in Mccain's case it might be genetic) to join the marines but you can be damn sure that the big picture proves me right, elite and their peons of the upper classes are totally missing from the front line fighting. If any of you fools think that is "democracy" where two parties dominate the scene in campaigns driven by money and BS where the masses do not even have guarantees of health care, regime after regime in one of the richest countries of the world, you're either on drugs or have the brains of ferozk....

re: hamidm and Arjun
Arjun, you are right! Let's see what happens. Let's see what the protest vote will be...and there will be one! It is all boiling down into a number's game and with Hillary holding on to a thin edge in the delegate count and Obama slipping ahead in the popular count, it will be interesting come summer...
McCain now has to swing to the right and convince the GOP base...the Bible thumpers...wonder which way the Latte Liberals will lean...in both cases...the establishment's candidates are having a rough time...Hillary with Obama and Mitt dropping out...
Hamid ji
I can understand that....I think that McCain will be understanding enough to kick some hilly billy butt in our own corner of the Redneck Wonderland....and the rocket's red glare...the bombs bursting in the air...will sound so surreal in Pushtu....
Ciao

ferozek,
.... it is funny how american politics works .... the other day we ruined a family dinner by arguing over politics: mrs hamidm supports hillary simply because she is a woman and all men are scum, my daughter is a button wearing obama supporter who thinks hillary is a lying crook, and i support mccain because i think he is good man - good for pakistan and my pocketbook .......

Americans are NOT going to vote a niggah or a woman to presidency. Not yet. Dirty tricks brigrade will never let it happen.
The presidency is staying with republicans. That's a shame.

OTOH, if obama is the nominee, there'll be tons of pissed off conservatives who won't vote or might even vote for obama...
dems should nominate obama...
but heck..they should have nominated dean instead of john forbes...

I am supporting McCain also and I think that if Hillary is nominated, she has enough of a "hate bank" amongst conversatives that they will likely support McCain despite his not being a republican wunderkind.

What's wrong with Indians on chowk? Here is a quite benign article by a Muslim asking fellow Muslims to take part in the American democratic processa and we have Indians seeing all kinds of motives in support of political islam.
This is nothing but another "mommy..muslims..poor victims, 25% of young american muslims think suicide bombing is ok but we're poor victims..wahh wahh" screed...
seriously...you're going heath ledger on the koolaid...

.... and regardless of what masadi keeps on saying about the imaginary 'elite', mccain's youngest son enlisted as a marine ...... the next president's son might end up serving as a foot soldier in the war against bedouin barbarianism ...... one more reason to vote for this good man ....
thank you for your support ...

maulana masadi,
you are a certified idiot ! ...... so now you are saying that the hispanics in california and the african-americans on the welfare rolls make up the american elite ? ........ what about ted kennedy and the maria shriver - are they chopped liver ? ..... from all accounts people voting for hillary are the traditional democrats - lazy bums looking for government handouts, union thugs led by the mafia, gays and lesbians, menopausal women, marauding mohammedans, sociologists with diplomas from community colleges, whiney ny jews, and the hollywood crowd led by brittany spears ......... most normal white and black people with real college degrees and high incomes vote for obama ........ i of course will vote for mccain because he is a good man who will reduce my taxes and kick some bedouin butt .........

Masadi sahib,
Re: #59
Your advice to Injuns is superfluous, it is already established that Injuns are tree toads.
(it is clear that you have come to terms with that role, a role of slaves and peons....)
We are used to it. We were slaves and peons of Arabs etc. for 600 years, then Brits, now Yanks.
And had it not been for millions of innocent human beings in Pakistan (including some wonderful friends I made on chowk), I wud have been more than happy to see you lead Pakistan on a path of resistance to "US elite"
Regards

oh and for the Indians, like I had said earlier, regardless of who you vote for, you're still a "cheap whore that the Americans are using to make their wife/girlfriend (China) jealous"- and by the way you all behave in total submission to the Americans, it is clear that you have come to terms with that role, a role of slaves and peons....
