In #445 read "the Democratic party, if Obama that has thoroughly vetted him and are supporting him now because he would be easier to beat than Hillary"

ajeya writes "Obama - with an African name, a Muslim middle name, a Muslim father, a Muslim mother, a Muslim stepfather, a madrassa education as a child (yes - that Indonesian school teaches the Koran as part of it's curriculum to the Muslim students who make up more than 95% of the students)."
Regardless of the background bs that the Republicans have flouted, the fact that you are missing is that the people are voting for a candidate of an elite white party, the Democratic party, if Obama that has thoroughly vetted him and are supporting him now because he would be easier to beat than Hillary. If he ran as an independant, without the backing of these special interests, he get extactly two and a half votes. Religion as a manipulation tool is alive and well in the US and if this guy was a Muslim he wouldn't have made it thus far, that is why they (the hidden powers) decided to eliminate Romney and chose McCain as the alternative, because they knew he didn't stand a chance, but religion doesn't work in isolation, there are other issues they use to manipulate the masses like the values debate and extra marital affairs and pro life or pro choice and what not- none of those other issues are in any way "holier" than religion for you to declare that these people are more "evolved". Religion was used to manipulate the masses by the MAJ, it resulted in real "facts on the ground" and a history that is difficult to ignore. Regardless of what Manto says- his BS is ocean deep- Pakistan was not created by Sufi struggles, it was created by colonial decree...

#441 well said. trouble is - ajeya knows all this, but is not interested in fixing problems in india. this is an interesting indian characteristic that no doubt has to do with serious psychological problems that Dr. Phil himself would have a hard time analysing.
#443 Posted by tahmed32 on February 22, 2008 8:57:14 am
ajeya: you are an indian. not an american. if you wish to teach someone a lesson, teach your modis and advanis and the hundreds of millions of indians who vote for religious fanatics of bjp.
but i guess minding everyone's business other than your own is a characteristic you share with too many other indians.

Here's a breakdown of religions in USA:
Protestant 52%, Roman Catholic 24%, Mormon 2%, Jewish 1%, Muslim 1%, other 10%, none 10% (2002 est.)
So that makes it 78% Christian, 1% Jewish, 1% Muslim, Other 10% (mostly ex-Christians), none (atheists - mostly ex-Christians).
So that is GREATER THAN 95% Christian background.
REGARDLESS of the number of non-Muslims in a Muslim-majority country or state, no non-Muslim will ever get elected as the head of state.
THIS is what Islam is all about. The Obama-supporting tree-huggers have limited experience with Muslims. They do not know how Muslims think - the hatred and the passion in their hearts that is periodically stoked by the Mullahs. They have never met a Muslim crowd after friday prayers.
But they will learn. Maybe the hard way. But they will.

Re: # 440
Your anology is totally incorrect. You cant compare Pakistan WITH USA. Only 5% or less population of Pakistan is non-muslim, as compared to diversity and different ethncity in US.
The correct anolgy of US could be with India, where both claim to be secular and democratic. But unlike in USA where minorities are protected, not the same case in the state of India. Minorities are still crushed and oppressed in states like Gujrat, Aasam, UP and other 31 different areas where seperation movements are going on.
Unfortunately, there is no hindu state that exists in the world, except Nepal, other wise I could have given more examples.
How about that as an answer?

Talking about elections - it seems that millions of Americans want Obama for President. Obama - with an African name, a Muslim middle name, a Muslim father, a Muslim mother, a Muslim stepfather, a madrassa education as a child (yes - that Indonesian school teaches the Koran as part of it's curriculum to the Muslim students who make up more than 95% of the students).
How many Hindus or Christians could get elected as dogcatcher in the "secular", "sufi", "liberal" etc. etc. state of Pakistan, or for that matter ANY country with a Muslim majority?
I think we all know the answer to that.

We gave NS the first chance in '93, he did a BAD job. We gave him another chance in '97, he proved to be WORSE. Giving him another chance once again in '08, you should be smart enough to know what is going to happen.
Same goes for AZ AKA Mr.10%, now would be Mr.100% after he won the majority,as he planned the successful assassination of BB.

#418 Posted by nomanahmed,
The decision was correct. 75% of the FCY accounts were of residents bought at an average rate of Rs 32/Dollar to avoid tax (FCY accounts were then tax-free) and converted @ 46. No resident lost any money but made a bundle.
Re non-residents, a distinction could have been made. I guess they just didn't want to take a chance with less than a billion dollars in reserves and making a big bang with the nuke.
BTW, the FCY accounts have built up right back to close to $4 billion since then despite the freeze ... all of them residents' even though these are now taxed. It is merely betting on Rupee depreciating against the dollar just as it was from 1992-98.

zeemax #435 Fully agreed. ALthough I must admit the political maturity both NS and AZ have shown the past few days has came as a very pleasant surprise. This contrasts musharraf's incredible stupidity whereby he has reduced himself to being a joke in Pakistan politics.
#436 Posted by tahmed32 on February 22, 2008 7:09:41 am
#433 merapakistan: So you agree, but dont trust NS or AZ to deliver. Fine.
Let me add that NS is a small step ahead of you and me - he heads a party that has actually won the elections (which you and I have not), and so when he calls for the restoration of the CJ, that means something. And I salute him for doing that. That is all I am saying. And I am sorry you have a problem with that.
Bye.

#415 Posted by tahmed32,
Yes tahmed, they've both learnt and grown in stature. I believe they now know how politicians have played a huge part in the repeated military takeovers through their constant squabbling, allowing the military and their collaborators to demonise them through character assassination. They know this time around people expect them to unite at this critical juncture.
One mustn't take away anyone's right to learn from past mistakes and to make amends. At the end of the day, both are patriots.

Re: # 429
"trust me, if bulley shah had gotten married and had a living descendant today, he would have swept elections in qasur, even if he was a corrupt womanizer......"
You mean the Pir families are more influential, powerful and acceptable to the general public than the madarassa inhabiting mullahs?
Does that mean that now the Pir-families would define what Islam is for the general public and the madarassa mullahs would be left fuming about people not accepting their definition of Islam?
I thought the people to be watched for would be the mullahs who define what Islam , and hence Pakistan, than NS or AZ who merely serve the interests of Capitalists and Land lords respectively.
The mullah camp is split into 2 - one that is neutral to crackdown on Jehadic madarassas and the other that completely oppose that crackdown. From what we see is that the former represented by MMA and "sarkari" mullahs have been descredited. But the 2nd type of Jehadic mullahs have gained support.
This is the group to be on watch by the us idolators.

tahmed,
I never said that the restoration of constitution and CJ is not good for Pakistan. Its Great !!!, but if someone expect this from NS or AZ, they needs a REALITY CHECK !!!

merapakistan: What is reasonable in saying that what you foretell is certain to happen? I dont know if the CJ will or will not be restored - and that is I think a realistic view.
If you dont think that restoration of the constitution ando of the supreme court is good for the country, you are entitled to your views. But dont act as if you can see the future with 20/20 foresight.

tahmed,
Rather than reasonablly suporting your arguments, you have started to get personal.
Any sane person would learn from history and we all try not to make the same mistakes we did in the past. Only a retarded or chemically imbalanced person can commit the same mistakes again and again and again.
