The only thing that counts is resolve. Just stop the US logistics convoys passing through Khyber Agency, and cut off supplies. Let the americans invade. The Wazirs are anxiously waiting for them to do just that.
Remember the cat and mouse Pavo had hinted about?

Care less about what happens to mush[a typical bhiya,a disgrace to the uniform].The intelectual integrity and capacity of the incoming gov to bring about much needed reforms is more of a concern. The very thought of Zardari in the helms of affairs is enough to give you jitters.
BTW the GHQ has made it catagoricaly clear to Mush that he is on his own.Mush is not a statesman or stratagist,he is a petty tactitian i do not believe he ca hang on for too long.

zeemax,
"No. I don't want americans to stay. I want them to compensate the Afghans for all the damage these b'tards have done. If they don't have the decency to do even that, they should just fcuk off and Pakistan will help Afghans in rebuilding their country. "
.... now this is getting really funny ! ....... i am sure you have heard the one about two starving homosexual men trying to get it on and both fainting in the process ......
..... i don't know if you have noticed but, we in pakistan don't really have much to give and maybe that is why we are blowing up ourselves along with innocent people ....... let's get real, the afghan savage is incorrigible and it is just too bad that they were not colonized by the russians or the british ...... today they could have been a liitle like us - not a whole lot better but still somewhat civilized ...... afghanistan only hope is a long term (200 year) occupation by western forces ... the minute they pull out the barbarians will be back to their old ways ..... it is hopeless, really - maybe we can figure out how to use the nooclur option ....

You have hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what a relatively 'educated' part of the Afghan community have been saying where I live.

‘Waziristan strike won’t pressure incoming govt’
* Analysts say attacks will not force new government to expedite war on terror efforts
By Iqbal Khattak
PESHAWAR: Sunday’s air strike on a suspected hideout of the Taliban and Al Qaeda in South Waziristan, which reportedly killed several foreign and local militants, would not pressure the incoming government to step up Pakistan’s efforts in the war on terror, observers said on Monday.
“The Wana air strike is a message for the new government, but such types of attacks will not pressure the new setup in Islamabad,” former Tribal Areas security chief Brigadier (r) Mehmood Shah said.
No responsibility for the attack has been claimed yet, and the government’s silence on such air strikes means it has been interpreted as an incursion, associated with the alleged involvement of the United States in chasing Al Qaeda into the territory of any country.
“We have not yet pinpointed the source [of Sunday’s attack],” military spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas told Daily Times. “We have no information about the number of casualties.”
President Pervez Musharraf has called incursions into Pakistan an “act of war”.(really...what're you going to do about it, huh?) Sunday’s attack comes days after Pakistan lodged its protest with coalition forces in Afghanistan after they killed four people in North Waziristan.

I know what you are saying. However, what appears on the surface is not always the same deep down. I wasn't even born in the seventies so can't comment on Pakistan's booming economy at the time; perhaps there was only one direction that economy could have gone anyway since there was a lot of catching up to do. The very fact we are interacting in English is a testament to our own very recent past (even if we maintain this love-hate relationship with our recent colonial masters!).
With regards to the external beauty of Afghanistan, I am sure you had a great time; it used to be the "hippy mecca" from around the world with cheap and widely available "hashish" etc. Iran was one such country not long ago; on the outside it appeared very modern but under the surface an 'Islamic Revolution' was brewing up! Nowadays, same can be true for Turkey, unfortunately; deep down it is a very Islamic society with the whitewash of secularism on the surface. I am sure any visitor to Pakistan would have different impression staying just in big cities vs 'roughing it out' in the country areas; they are completely different worlds.
It is more to do with mindset I think. Colonisation, in the greater scheme, is not always bad; every developed nation has this legacy of their own if you read history. It brings new ideas that some people may otherwise not be exposed to.
Re # 120 (bjk)
I apologise for my contribution in the matter; I must make it clear though that I have never been a shrinking violet and if someone does make a personal remark, they will get an appropraite reply.

hamidm #118 "maybe we can figure out how to use the nooclur option .... "
Again the "N" word (and I dont mean as in black either)!! Maybe you should keep a few nukes with you and every time something bothers you can toss one at it. E.g., the client isnt paying up? nuke him!! The neighbor's dog barks too loud? lob him a nuke!! the missus is talking too much? go for the nuclear option!! Show them what a man you are.
