Pakistan was prepared for economic sanctions then becuase it had a vibrant unregulated domestic economy. The policies of the past 8 years have eliminated the domestic sector and diverted it to consumerism. Now they are mere traders. China has replaced Pakistan in much of small industry. Stock market now has foreign players. By all measures its no more a small sustainable economy but rather a bubble. With such a turnaround, would Pakistan sustain economic sanctions?

Yes. a little belt tightening, that's all. Some foreign exchange controls, petrol taxed to the limit and buses (good ones btw ... aircon and all) back in fashion, plus ban on import of services. Use your own. No problem.

I don't think that Americans are in a position to impose sanctions on Pakistan, unless they get out of Afghanistan first. Just by stopping trucks going into Afghanistan for a week will be enough to bring americans back into their senses. I think we must be advanced in planning and raise a public consciousness about the leased airfields that US has in pakistan. They must be shut down immediately.

Pakistan is only suffering this indignity because castrated bhen lun generals who are occupying Pakistan do not have it in them to lead this nation. As compared to them, a bumbling idiot like NS, has shown more courage and resolve.

Agreed,glad you said something sensible in this chowk hiramandi. Pakistan is not Iraq or A stan,if our generals have some balls no country or group of countries can enter Pakistan without an all out nuclear war.What are the chances for that its debateable.
