Where did you learn to write English? Man, that was unreadable! After reading 'the memory lane ' (since when have memory lanes required the use of the definite article?) my heart sank but it got worse...
Chowk editors? Do you actually read the articles?

Yes, I'm an intellectual snob but Chowk has an international readership and some effort should be made to maintain a semblance of a standard...

Adnan Bahi,
I saw your name and I knew it had to be you. Sorry to hear about the elections. Spoke with your brother just a few days ago.
I agree with the pollution that has occured in ATD. I left ATD in 85, Manshera road was still covered with maple (chinar) trees.... 5 yrs later they were gone and my last trip few months back(when I saw you at Shahids Daughters wedding) ATD had changed completely.
What ATD needs is a local rail loop, a byway, and a massive re-plantation effort, to reduce the highway traffic (I know Dullos hotel will suffer, but its OK for the greater good) and bring back the lush greenry.
All the best

Feel honoured being addressed as bro but I am certainly not the "Adnan bhai" that you are taking me for!
A strong realization and a well coordinated effort is required to arrest the depleting trend and restore the charms of the valley. Enforcement of environmental laws is the need of the day.

"Chowk editors? Do you actually read the articles?"
Mr. Naqsh,
I've tried it too several times. You're talking to a 'stoned' wall!

I remember Abbottabad from my toddler years in the early 70's, my cousins used to go to school at Burnhall and it looked so pristine back then. Its a pity most of the forests in Pakistan are gone.
Here in the 'states we have state and national parks as well as local zoning laws that help protect nature from urban sprawl.
If we leave the world to posterity at least as unspoilt as when we inherited it then we would have lived well.

It is heartening to read this thought provoking and passionate article written by Mr Adnan Bashir.
Mr Bashir please continue writing such wonderful reports about our beloved city Abbottabad and we would also like to see such detailed articles published in daily statesman of Peshawar and daily Dawn and daily The News international etc.
Thank you once again for speaking on the behalf of voiceless and vanishing glory known as Abbottabad.
