Tahmed # 28,
Thanks for the correction. Nevertheless, Panini's ashes must be whirling in tornadoes seeing the plight of his people.
Adios

hamidm: actually, you have been wrong since November 29 2007 - the day musharraf "retired" (i.e. was forced to leave) from the military.
Since that day he lost his powerbase, namely the barrel of the gun which he could not abuse his position to turn against the people of Pakistan. And that was the day musharraf lost out to the CJ on the key issue the latter took a stand on - namely that a man in uniform could not be president at the same time.
Musharraf "retired" with his usual cheapster pomp and show and the CJ languished in house arrest along with his family - but it was the CJ who had won and musharraf who had lost.
You may not understand this - but head lota musharraf understood it, and that is why he fought tooth and nail on this issue, calling his "wardi" his second skin and so forth - until the fat lady (negroponte) read the writing on the pakistani streets and sang.

Dear Ana
How about the prophet and his companions? How come Muslims have adopted a Jewish ritual.

While you can join the lawless general, lotas, ghoondas and waderas in attacking judges, the world honors them..
American bar to honour Pakistani lawyers, judges
WASHINGTON: The American Bar Association (ABA) has decided to give its annual Rule of Law Award to “those lawyers and judges in Pakistan who [have] demonstrated courage in upholding the rule of law in their country”. In an announcement, the premier body, representing thousands of American lawyers, said that it wanted to recognise the “vivid bravery of Pakistani lawyers who faced down baton-wielding police over threats to their country’s constitution, and judges who were fired or quit their posts”. The award will be formally made in August at the ABA Rule of Law luncheon, part of the ABA annual meeting in New York. The honour has been given to an array of world leaders and defenders of the rule of law in the last 14 years, including Vaclav Havel while he was president of the Czech Republic, United States Supreme Court Associate Justices Anthony Kennedy and Stephen Breyer, and the Committee of Voters of Ukraine. Representatives from the Pakistani legal and judicial community will be invited to come to New York to accept the award on behalf of the Pakistani lawyers and judges who have championed the rule of law. khalid hasan

tahmed,
sigh ! ..... it is not the lotas, generals and ghoondas attacking cj droopy - the elected mna's from ppp and their leader are attacking him .....surprisingly, hamid mir seems to agree with them (he is the one who brought up the javed hashmi case)
.... and in case you didn't notice, musharraf is still living in the army house and conducts court from his 'camp office' in pindi ..... and all foreign dignitaries meet with him because they know he is the man calling the shots -i don't think gilani even got to meet with ahmedinajad .....
..... and an american bar honoring anyone doewn't mean a thing - i get honored by all sorts of irish pubs and neighborhood bars all the time .......

Kulharee writes "even if it is painful to swallow.."
It takes a big man to change his views when confronted by facts. It was in 1993 or was it 94, I forget now that during black history month Malcolm X's roommate, Benajamin or something was his name, I forget that also came to our university in a town that is considered the buckle in the "bible belt", saying that the real Malcolm X was the one before his conversion, the new one was a fake, so I stood up the hothead that I was, challenging him that what he was saying amounted to "racism" which the Quran did not encourage. His answer was the immigrant Muslim do not understand the depth of the black experience in the USA to pass that judgment. I didn't realize it then, the utopian fool that I was (back then not now so watch it!) but realize now that he was right on 100%. The recent immigrant sees the bells and whistles of the advertised US society with its egalitarian politeness and what not, hiding behind which is the ugliness that has defined the oppression of the black man and people of color that is still justified and practiced implicitly. The struggle of the black man has been manipulated, mainstreamed through MLK and coopted with window dressing, while those who recognize and recongized the "real world" regarding this oppression are labeled as 'racists' or trouble makers or 'terrorists', you cannot understand facts without reference to their context and history, and that history reveals the ugly face of the white man's rule in America, the depth of whose oppressiveness can be noted in numbers but never felt to the extent of those who have suffered through centuries of it....

hamid writes "hp mian,
..... you are right in that there is a lot of prejudice against the colored breed and i am afraid it is never going to go away .... real life is not like hollywood "
And this fool, hamid who was implying that the colored man is inferior to the white man just as some dog breeds are inferior to others will know what "real life" is- give me a goddamned break

BTW in #135, when I stood up to question the roommate, the white folk in the crowd cheered and clapped and what not, and like all sellouts, at the time, I felt quite good about myself, even though my question was based on ignorance of the sort tahmed displays...

hamidm: how many votes does musharraf have (or ever had ever since his fake referendum years ago)? how many regiments has musharraf had after november 29?
zero + zilch times null raised to the power sipher = 0
Once you understand this, you will understand the significance of november 29. now he is a convenient idiot for zardari to have for now, and that is all.

Massaddi Mian:
"...I didn't realize it then, the utopian fool that I was (back then not now so watch it!) but realize now that he was right on 100%...."
If you realize the above, then you should be looking to the future for answers not in the 7th century, or 3,500 year old Rig Veda.
